While we all understand (and have sympathy for) this point of view, God does say that those who follow Him do have to forgive him.
Matthew 5:44
“But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;”
and we have to bless them, too.
Blessing does not mean we need to reconcile with them or even be in contact with them. But what is the greatest blessing? It is to have your sins forgiven by the Lord Jesus Christ, who is God, and go to Heaven when you die.
And - if you bless him - and he gets saved, it’s unlikely he will ever again do anything like this. Quite the opposite. It’s the power of the love of God that makes this possible.

But I have so often been of the same mind - “I’ll pray he gets his a— kicked in prison . . .” - - - that resonated for me. Thank you for reminding me.
He better pray his ass only gets kicked in prison.
