Sorry but my empathy has run out over this. He needs to vote first and then fly home if he wishes. (And weddings can be rescheduled a few hours or a day if necessary. It wont be the first time and it wont be the last)
It's highly likely guests plans and the reception couldn't easily be changed, but so what? The actual ceremony could be timed around his being there.
Being US Senator means that the nation comes before family obligations. This extra drama isn't needed. It is symptomatic of how far the US Senate has sunk.
I agree. He must vote first. It’s too important for the country. Should the wedding be delayed a few hours, so be it.
