President Trump on Friday abruptly ousted the director of federal personnel and replaced him with a top official at the Office of Management and Budget, according to the White House.
The White House said in a brief statement Margaret Weichert, who serves as deputy director for management at the White House Office of Management and Budget, will helm the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in an acting capacity "in addition to her current duties."
Weichert will replace Jeff Pon, a business executive who had been in the post just since March. The White House did not respond to a request for comment about the decision.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Weichert says the decision is in line with Trump's "management agenda." She has played a key role in the administration's effort to reform the civil service.
"What I would say is that the broader objectives of the presidents management agenda are focusing on driving and really modernizing how we think about governing and our workforce in the 21st century. The president wants me to continue the work that we are doing around the presidents management agenda, said Weichert.
The OPM is an independent federal agency tasked with overseeing the federal civilian workforce. Its previous Senate-confirmed director, Katherine Archuelta, was forced to resign in 2015 after it was revealed that 20 million people's personal information was stolen in a major data breach.
Trump's announcement was overshadowed by the confirmation battle surrounding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
The announcement was made during undeclared Sen. Susan Collins's (R-Maine) highly anticipated floor speech, during which she announced she would vote for the judge.
Draining the Swamp??
Possibly this will get rid of all those liberals who always get federal government jobs. There must be a good number of conservatives who could never get a job.
Draining the Swamp??
.
.
Sure, why not.
I have no idea who this person is but I #beliveinPOTUS
Its said that laws governing federal employees prevents President from hiring anyone
Didn’t Trump appoint him?
He was fired because he couldn’t perform effectively. His job was to unscrew the swamp drain plugs and could not get it done quickly enough
Perhaps
One of the things we need to do is promote diversity in educational degrees. Not every dinle goverent employee needs to have a master’s from Georgetown.
Fed court is blocking civil service reform. Pond not defying the court?
Americas HR lady gets the boot. Nice!
My guess is that Jeff Pon was a leaker.
That would be nice.
That would be nice.
Me too.
I TRUST TRUMP.
I Like Ike

“Draining the Swamp??”
Hillary Clinton mentioned in an interview recently, that she had heard disturbing indications, that Trump was planning a large purge of Government employees after the election.
It also handles pensions, insurance, etc. of us Federal retirees, including former USPS workers. They don't oversee USPS, but we are transferred to them upon retirement.
So far in my 7 years retired I've found them to be very slow in making changes, but they haven't messed up my financials, so far. They issue my 1099 so I can file taxes for the pension money I'd already been taxed on when I earned it.
Let’s hear the Dems find fault with that - replaced a substandard man with a capable woman....where do they find the niche to insert the crowbar of hate and dissension?
