Two key senators who have remained undecided on the Supreme Court nomination of Brett Kavanaugh on Thursday praised a new FBI report detailing the agency's latest background investigation comments that seemed to suggest the odds of confirmation might be moving in his direction.
Their comments came as Senate Republicans on Thursday claimed that the FBI probe into sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh had vindicated him by failing to uncover new evidence of wrongdoing, while Democrats blasted the speedy probe as "limited" and "incomplete."
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said she was still absorbing the new report, but sounded satisfied with its scope, based on a GOP morning briefing. It appears to be a very thorough investigation," she said, adding that she still planned to "go back to personally read the interviews.
Retiring Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., another potential swing vote, left the same briefing saying he plans to go back and read more of the report, but said he saw no additional corroborating information to back up misconduct allegations, calling the report reassuring.
Democrats and attorneys for women who have accused Kavanaugh of misconduct have been critical of the depth of the investigation and of some of the limits the White House, which had initially dismissed the need for a new probe, had placed on it.
Top Democratic senators, meanwhile, expressed outrage Thursday that the FBI probe was limited in scope and incomplete.

So as the political theater winds down, we end up with the same outcome that was likely before it all..
Kavanaugh confirmed with 52-55 votes...
And the left will act like bratty children for at least 2 weeks after they lose...
The added benefit? This all is happening 2-3 weeks closer to the election than it would have otherwise... so the GOP will do much better than they would have had the vote happened weeks ago.
The DEMS live in a bubble if they think for one second there is ANY upside for them in this fiasco...
let’s not get hopes up too much, jeff hasn’t been confronted in an elevator in a couple of days- He could change his mind if he does-
Collins, Flake and Murkowski are about to be inundated with lobbying. I predict it will be so rude, obnoxious and borderline violent that it will have the effect of cementing their yes votes. The radicals cannot help themselves.
Ford’s filthy lawyers released a statement saying that the FBI probe was clearly insufficient as they didn’t talk to Ford and the witnesses she provided.. What witnesses, the only people she said were there, have all said they weren’t there. even her best girlfriend.
She must be referring to her husband, lol, and her beach friends she told. Crap.
She’s lucky some veteran FBI agents didn’t grill her and expose her lies
Keep Flake away from any elevators.
That would be Flake and Collins..and supposedly news on twitter that “Some” Democrats will vote for Kavanaugh..that the FBI report has given them reason to vote for him..or to save their own asses in the midterms, but hey whatever works
What is the precedent for how supplemental FBI reports to the Sinate are handled?
I think I heard a day or two ago, that there was precedent to, under limits and observation, a report is viewed by Sinators one at a time, or a party at a time.
Is the way this is being handled new for the Sinate or is this the way it has always been done? Or, something in-between?
I’d say “ALL OF US” must VOTE straight “R” or we risk losing the AMERICA we finally got back, and; yes Trump has this nation WINNING again. So many of us prayed for an upset of crooked Hillary. We got it, so; let’s not lose it.
Manchin will almost certainly vote yes, unless his vote would be the one to put Kavanaugh over the top... then he MIGHT take the bribe from dems.. but he’s a yes as long as he isn’t the one who puts him on the court...
Donnelly is probably in the same boat as well...
Once its obvious he’s got enough votes, you will see some of the same red state dems who approved Gorsuch, and perhaps a few more, vote yes.
If the Dems don’t think the republicans have the votes, then they will likely try their darnedest to stay united, but if it becomes clear the GOP have the votes, some of the dems will come on over....no doubt about it.
This is all political theater folks.. nothing has changed since before Feinstein threw this bomb... other than now, the electorate is wide awake and ready to punish the Democrats for their behavior.
Kabuki theater. The three holdouts had probably sold their yes votes days ago, in which case the lobbyists who own them have secured contracts and concessions and will set them up for life.
Swamp 101
but wait...how can a report be thorough and incomplete?
Some Dems were going to vote YES all along...
Provided they weren’t going to be the ones to put him over the top.
Provided the GOP has 50 votes... dems will vote yes. Not many, but a few certainly will...
If the GOP doesn’t have 50 votes then those same dems will likely take the DEM bribe and stay on the reservation, even it if means its the end of their political careers.
One more accuser Bombshell coming today or tomorrow...My Guess
They are not undecided. When the voting starts they are a yes.
They can do whatever they like, its done... The public wants this guy confirmed... Dems throwing more bombs and temper tantrums won’t change anything...
Amazing, it took the “non conservative” Donald J Trump, to teach the Republicans what a SPINE looks like!
If only they had had one during the Obama years... Imagine where we would be.
