I'm not kidding. "Navy sailor." My brother was a decorated Marine in the 1970s, but he's a full blown left-wing progressive today.
My dad was a decorated Army LtCol who served three tours in Vietnam with the Special Forces. After leaving the military, he switched to 'rat and never looked back.
Go figure.
