Where Is the Polygraph Trail Leading?
nationalreview.com ^ | Charles Cooke

The “sworn statement from a longtime boyfriend of Dr. Ford’s” is now online. In it, the ex-boyfriend claims that he...

"witnessed Dr. Ford help McLean [Ford’s friend] prepare for a potential polygraph exam. Dr. Ford explained in detail what to expect, how polygraphs worked, and helped McLean become familiar and less nervous about the exam."

He also writes that “Dr. Ford never brought up anything regarding her experience as a victim of sexual assault, harassment, or misconduct”; that she “never mentioned Brett Kavanaugh”; that she “never indicated a fear of flying”; that she “never expressed a fear of closed quarters, tight spaces, or places with only one exit”; that she was “unfaithful”; and that she committed “fraud” by using a credit card from which she had been removed long after she had broken up with the cardholder.

These statements are of varying use, and, at this stage, it is impossible to tell how true they are. Nevertheless, it seems clear that Rachel Mitchell knew some of this during last week’s Senate hearing, because she asked Ford two extremely specific questions on the subject of polygraphs. They were:

MITCHELL: Had — have you ever given tips or advice to somebody who was looking to take a polygraph test?

FORD: Never.

And:
MITCHELL: Have you ever had discussions with anyone, beside your attorneys, on how to take a polygraph?

FORD: Never.

I was thinking the same thing when I initially read about the story this morning.

I believe you're right....and by some miracle, it didn't get leaked.

Looks like her attorneys got snookered, too.

They have a lot of good people. It is the leadership that is the problem.

I am a bit upset that the SJC redacted the witness’ name, but didn’t redact McLean’s name. There is no reason to make her name public at this time.

If Rachel Mitchell know about the polygraph, why didn’t she slam Ford during her questioning?

Because her job was to gather information, not impeach the witness. By playing dumb, Mitchell could keep asking questions that, however much they might appear naive, would lull Ford into false security and give her more chances to lie.

Ford’s got a problem now. She can’t walk this back and it could be a little bit of lawyer work to get her off the hook (maybe admitting a drug or alcohol problem).

McClean was probably not the only one she counseled.

There's no reason that "we" know of.

Apparently, the GOP Senators on the Committee have a lot of information that they have not made public.

I’ve worked with FBI agents for over 25 years and I’ve found that most agents at the street level are pretty good at what they do but it was important to watch one’s back when around anyone with a rank over the street supervisor level. Those people were more interested in climbing the ladder than catching bad guys.

Boy, did they. Especially since Mitchell didn't follow up on one reply that was completely non-responsive to the question. Either Fords lawyers are idiots or they think Mitchell is one.

I think President Trump knew yesterday that today Dr Ford was going to be impeached as a witness. Hence his jokes at her expense last night at his Mississippi rally.

You’re absolutely right. Trump wouldn’t have done it otherwise.

And apparently Jeff Flake is too stupid to figure that out.
