Time and again, with very few exceptions, Republicans in Congress have disappointed their own base and handed Democrats the initiative at every turn. Their constant folding will cost Republicans everything and gain them nothing from the voters, who handed the party its first unified control of Capitol Hill and the White House since 2005.
The tax law and confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch aside, the Republican leadership in Congress has left its core voters confused over what is the exact advantage of voting for its party. If the repubs blow this, what really is the point of voting for them?

Well - the possibility that the Left could end up permanently in control of the Courts? If the Democrats do not win control of the Senate, this is academic - they cannot gain control of the Courts - nor the Supreme Court. So, temporary outrage, or permanent loss of the country? I don't think those two things are comparable. Sort of like committing suicide because you have one bad week.
If Kavanaugh goes down in this vote, Trump should nominate him again. The GOP will pick up enough seats to not need the abortion sisters.
