However, although I served 6 years (active and Reserves) during the Vietnam era,I was never ordered anywhere near SE Asia and have never "misplaced words" to suggest that I had.
Never!
Same for me. I say I enlisted in 1966 and got out in 1970. I dont even say I was a Vietnam era veteran. To me, that would be wrong.

Similarly, in 4 years of USAF active duty at the height of the Vietnam war, I was never boots down in country. ( I WAS in "theater", just not in VN), and the aircraft that I worked on as a technician on the ground did fly active missions over Vietnam.
I have never misplaced any words about claiming to being a Vietnam Vet, because I wasn't. To do so would be to steal honor of those who are or were Vietnam Vets, and I will not and cannot steal honor.
Mister Blumenthal is an honor thief, attempts to bask in the high esteem with which we recognize the courage and sacrifice of those who earned it; and then when caught, bluemthal LIES about it.
Weasel.
Me too. 4 years stationed at Edwards AFB 69 thru 72. I’ve never told anyone that I served in Vietnam. It is not a mistake that can be made.
