Same for me. I say I enlisted in 1966 and got out in 1970. I don’t even say I was a “ Vietnam era veteran.” To me, that would be wrong.
Really? You *did* serve.It *was* the Vietnam era.And making such a statement isn't an attempt to deceive or to appear to be heroic.Whenever anyone asks me about my service I always tell the truth by saying "the most dangerous thing I ever did in uniform was to eat Army chow".
But you're certainly entitled to adopt that position if you wish.
