Flake: FBI must do a 'real investigation' of Kavanaugh

BOSTON - Sen. Jeff Flake said Monday he was working with the White House counsel's office to ensure that the FBI is able to do a "real investigation" into allegations of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

"We certainly want the FBI to do a real investigation and we are working to make sure that happens. I've had discussions, many yesterday, with my colleagues, with the White House counsel's office, my staff is following up as well. I had one of those conversations just five minutes ago to make sure that the - that any current credible allegation that has been made has been fully investigated," he said at the Forbes' Under 30 Summit.

"It does no good to have an investigation that just gives us more cover for example. We actually need to find out what we can find out," he continued, adding that "we have to realize that we may not be able to find out everything."

Over the weekend, Flake was called a "hero" at the MSNBC Global Citizen Festival when he came out on stage with friend and Democratic colleague, Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware. But here in Boston, protesters gathered outside the Forbes Under 30 Summit where Flake was speaking to decry Kavanaugh's nomination and the allegations against him.

So why is this guy pretending still to be a Republican when he’s not even running for re-election?

Dunno if wiki has it right but:

At the time, U.S. senators were elected by state legislatures; thus Lincoln and Douglas were trying for their respective parties to win control of the Illinois General Assembly.

Judas Flake should have plans to pack up his family and permanently move out of Arizona to some sh*thole blue state.

He is absolutely the most hated man in Arizona. He has brought embarrassment and shame upon all Arizonans and he DOES NOT represent his constituents.

Start with investigation of Flake who must be very very compromised.

Kavanaugh is too squeaky clean for the whores(politicians) in DC. Maybe the way W got Roberts through confirmation was by putting up someone with skeletons to be used when necessary.

A real investigation is limited in time and scope...so says you, Flake.

I could swear I heard a WH Fox reporter say this afternoon that POTUS may do a RECESS APPT after laying out all the political rancor.......maybe my hearing was off.
I’m thinking this may be a card he’s willing to play

If I worked at the FBI I would be insulted. I think Congress should be just as responsible in their duties.

Where the hell does he think he has been appointed the conscience of the country? In his own mind, obviously.

We certainly want the FBI to do a real investigation

Interpretation: We aren't accepting any report that doesn't say what we want it to say.

He is either:

1) Dumb as a post, and doesn’t understand one thing about police work and the FBI; or

2) Posturing for a “no” vote; or

3) Trying to set himself up for an even bigger payday with CNN or MSPMSNBC.

I’m guessing between 1 and 2 myself.

https://www.the-american-interest.com/2006/06/01/a-short-history-of-a-big-mistake/

...In 1888, South Carolina was the first state to introduce the preferential primary, which democratized the election of senators in the same way that the election of the president had been democratized. Just as state members of the Electoral College were expected to cast their votes for the presidential candidate who had received the greatest popular vote in the state, so the state legislatures were asked to elect that candidate for the Senate who had received the greatest popular vote in the primary...

... Since state legislators were not legally bound by the results of the primary, the State of Oregon passed by initiative in 1904 what became known as the “Oregon system”, which 11 other states soon imitated.

Under this system, a general election runoff was held between the major parties’ primary nominees for the Senate and candidates for the state legislature were “permitted” to include in their platform one of two statements regarding their views on the election of senators.

“Statement No. 1” pledged the candidate to abide by the results of the general election, even if the winner was from a different party. “Statement No. 2” declared that the candidate would treat the results of the general election “as nothing more than a recommendation” and would vote according to his personal discretion.

Most candidates for the state legislatures chose “Statement No. 1” for obvious reasons. Under such circumstances, the preferential primary coupled to a version of the Oregon system was tantamount to the direct election of the Senate...

He might as well just change parties and be done with the posturing.

That was my first thought.

Now we know where the leaks are coming from about what the FBI is doing or not doing.

If he doesn’t get his way he goes whining to the left wing Media

Judge K has been investigated. It is the accusers that need to be investigated by the FBI.
