Republican Sen. Jeff Flake admitted on Sunday that had he been running for re-election in Arizona, requesting the FBI to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct against Judge Brett Kavanaugh would have made him unelectable to the Senate.
The Arizona senator voted yes to advance Kavanaughs Supreme Court nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and into the full Senate on Friday with the condition that an FBI probe would briefly investigate Christine Blasey Fords accusation of sexual abuse against the judge.
Flake notably announced that he would not be running for re-election in October 2017. CBS News Scott Pelley asked Flake if he had been seeking to hold his Senate seat, would he have been able to demand an investigation.

Trump cost me my Senate seat so I’m going to stab him in the back. Occam’s razor.

Flake could not win a nomination for dog catcher let alone win the election for it.

So he’s saying that he is doing this knowing the people he represents would not support what he is doing?? Doesn’t he still represent them?

Flake is not running again because he was going to lose. Now he is running the tricky “middle of the road” routine in preparation for a presidential run. Of course he needs to figure out whether that’s more favorable as a democrat or a republican. He gives me the creeps.

Here is a man admitting that he has a poor character without even realizing that he is doing so. And he is passing judgment on a far better man. Every Republican ought to be calling him on this.

Funny, I thought elected politicians were sent to do the will of their constituents. This seems to be a point that is never brought up. Manchin is a great example. Screw what he feels, represent the will of those who sent you.
