How many would have been manufactured/sold without the subsidy?

I do know that the owners I know would have spent the difference. They have the money and they wanted the cars.
Not all owners would or could, but it’s already an expensive car appealing to a wealthier clientele. They are weighing the Tesla against other luxury cars. They aren’t buying it based on what the monthly car payment is going to be.
Prius buyers want something that makes them feel all environmental. Tesla S buyers want something that can pin you to the seat and leave everything burning gas in the rearview mirror.
