From a political perspective, would the Republicans have been better off confirming Kavanaugh (A) two weeks ago, or (B) next week?
The answer is (B) -- and in a big way.
Putting Kavanaugh in front of that Judiciary Committee on Thursday was a brilliant political move.
I've been saying for two weeks now that the longer this drags on, the better it is for the Republicans.
The Democrats have spent three months painting Kavanaugh as an evil bastard. As a result of the events of the last two weeks, they've now managed to do the impossible: They've turned him into a VICTIM.
I also believe Trump needed Ford under oath in order to proceed with the FBI investigation. He is sure that Brett is being truthful or he would have given him an out. I can hear Brett saying and looking right in Trump’s eyes , Mr. President The allegations are false. Trump believes him fully.
Yes, his testimony was powerful, that he was the victim of a political hit and smear campaign that puts his career at risk. True to form, there is already a move to impeach and remove him from his current judgeship. There is a risk of course that he could end up as a casualty. But in the big picture the Republicans are trying to clear the name of an honorable man and the Dems are doubling down on their baseless smear campaign. That is only going to push more people to our side.
Even more than what you said, I think that this is being won in the only way that it can. These pathetic “allegations” are a weapon in the Dem’s Media’s hands, like the “Stormy Daniels” saga, that can only be defeated in this way.
The Public tires of being lied to, and the more that a lie being fed to them is exposed, the angrier they get.
Trump has the bully-pulpit and is free to use it, and IS using it, to expose the lies while all of this goes on. Plus, I think that a loony Liberal’s idea of what is “credible” and that of the American People differ in the extreme, so even Media-twisted coverage really does expose the lie.
I believe that BK will be confirmed. But even more significantly, the Dems are killing themselves in November over this. So, the makeup of the Senate may not be such a problem in the future.
