Flake is a publicity whore, nothing, more nothing less. This could be his last chance to have the spotlight shinning on him alone. All Flake said was he would vote Kavanaugh out of committee, with the agreement that they would recommend to the Majority Leader that the floor vote on Kavanaugh be delayed no more than one week to give the FBI time to do due diligence as to Ford’s accusations, and furthermore the committee is to recommend to the Majority Leader to ask the White House to order the FBI to do said diligence.
Of course it’s ridiculous, and most likely Flake is just trying to milk as much publicity for his whorish self as he can. He is a total scumbag to be sure, but I suspect McConnell is going to do some serious arm twisting over the next several hours because he has been adamant that Kavanaugh would be seated by October 1, the opening of the next SC term, if he delays then he looks totally weak. And also, I don’t think the R Senators running for election want to draw the President Trump’s ire at this point in the election season, many of them know their electoral prospects hinge upon President Trumps support and understand that with his support they’re in for a relatively easy victory in a majority of states, but without his support it turns into a 1 or 2 point nail-biter that could go either way after the dem vote counter find several boxes of votes they just forgot about earlier.
The request to the FBI can be made and refused

I hope the FBI sends a memo later today: For the THIRD time, there is NOTHING to investigate. Case CLOSED.
Then I hope McConnell schedules the opening debate vote for 5am tomorrow, the ending debate vote for 5am on Monday, and the confirmation vote at 6am.
Then I hope McConnell has a private word with Jeff: Up yours Flake. I hope your lobbying career is just as successful as your Senate career.
