NH Has Third-Lowest Rate of Violent Crime, According to FBI Statistics
The Union Leader ^ | September 26, 2018 | Staff and Wire Services

2017 FBI report Maine: 121 incidents of violent crime per 100,000 residents.

Vermont: 165.8 incidents per 100,000.

New Hampshire: 198.7 incidents per 100,000

New Hampshire is once again in an enviable spot following the release of the FBI’s latest crime rate data.

The Granite State had the third-lowest rate of violent crime in 2017 — 198.7 incidents per 100,000 residents — trailing only Vermont (165.8) and Maine (121). Violent crime was down slightly nationwide, and it was the second year in a row that New Hampshire’s rate decreased...

That disparity has long been the case — without any clear explanation — according to Cesar Rebellon, a professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire.

There is also no definite explanation for why northern New England tends to have a lower violent crime rate than other regions, although evidence points to several factors...

New Hampshire does not require a permit or license to possess or purchase any sort of firearm; also, registration is also not necessary.

Smoking pot 24/7 probably has a lot to do with those statistics.

1. No major cities
2. No major “minority” populations, but I repeat myself.

According to the Table 4 of the FBI stats, the national violent crime rate is 394.0 per 100,000 people (https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/topic-pages/tables/table-4). Out of the top ten darkest states plus DC and Puerto Rico (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demography_of_the_United_States), VA (208.2), GA (357.2), and NC (363.7) have violent crime rates that are lower than the national average. Out of the top 26 darkest states/territories, VA, GA, NC, NY (356.7), NJ (228.8), Ohio (297.5), PA (313.3), CT (228.0), PR (232.6), and KY (225.8), have violent crime rates that are lower than the national average. Thus, 70% of the top 10 darkest states/territories and 62% of the top 26 darkest states/territories have violent crime rates that exceed the national average.

Now look at the gun control laws: Of the 26 darkest states/territories that have violent crime rates below the national average, four (NY, NJ, CT, and PR) have strict gun control laws, whereas the other six (VA, GA, NC, OH, PA, and KY) are gun friendly. On the other hand, of the 26 states/territories that have violent crime rates above the national average, only five (DC, MD, DE, IL, and MI) have strict gun control, whereas eleven (MS, LA, SC, AL, TN, FL, AR, TX, MO, IN, and NV do not.

Draw your own conclusions.

Less congestion (Manchester has 745 instances of violent crime, vs. 0 for many other places), demographics, and 3rd highest in gun ownership per capita.

NH (I live here) also has a very low Hispanic population. Although this is now the largest minority. https://www.census.gov/quickfacts/nh White alone, percent(a) 93.6% Black or African American alone, percent(a) 1.6% American Indian and Alaska Native alone, percent(a) 0.3% Asian alone, percent(a) 2.8% Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander alone, percent(a) Z Two or More Races, percent 1.7% Hispanic or Latino, percent(b) 3.7% White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, percent 90.5% Foreign born 5.8% Many of the Asians I know own businesses here in New Hampshire. A lot of them moved up from Boston. I know two Chinese families that own restaurants. Their kids all went to private universities. My dentist grew up in Taiwan. He has two practices. One in Mass. One in NH. Indian/Pakistani immigrants are either doctors or IT professionals. Many work in Mass. Their kids all go to the STEM Charter high school down the street it seems. Most of the Hispanics here are hard working people that want to provide for their families. There is also a higher percentage of Brazilian immigrants here(they are not Hispanic technically). They are extremely hard working people. The lazy slugs stay in Mass where it is easier to get government assistance.
