Kavanaugh accuser asks Senate to limit press access for hearing
The Washington Times ^ | September 25, 2018 (Tuesday) | Stephen Dinan and Rowan Scarborough

Christine Blasey Ford’s lawyers have asked senators to limit the press who will be allowed in the room to cover Thursday’s hearing with her and Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and sought to dictate at least some of the outlets.

Coverage is one of a number of issues Ms. Blasey Ford’s lawyers are negotiating with Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Michael Bromwich said in emails sent Tuesday afternoon that he was requesting access for three “robocams,” three specific wire services, photographers from the Associated Press, Reuters and one unspecified service, and a pool reporter for newspapers and magazines. In a follow-up email he specified that the robocams should be operated by “the CSPAN TV pool,” and said he also wanted space for a radio reporter.

Those emails were among several seen by The Washington Times detailing the tense negotiations between Ms. Blasey Ford’s team and committee staff.

While committees sometimes limit press based on space at hearings, and some witnesses have arranged to have their identities shielded, longtime Capitol Hill watchers struggled to think of precedent for a witness dictating terms of press coverage.

In Ms. Blasey Ford’s case she has received threats since she went public with her story, and her team has insisted the committee guarantee her safety as she testifies, as well as limited access to the hearing.

I’m 50/50 on it. She’s had time for validating witnesses to have been paid off. I have trouble believing the dems fired all their ammo in the initial round.

OTOH, the DOJ is becoming Trump’s and going under oath can be a dangerous thing. She risks being found out, and she risks civil suit by Kavenaugh and others she has named. False allegations could also take her to jail where secret money paying off civil suits doesn’t help.

Yes limit the press. They want to do their totalitarian dirt in the dark.

Fox News and conservative networks will not be allowed in.

These totalitarian idiots need to be ridiculed into obliteration.

The left is like that. They make noises about freedom of expression, but want to deny that to all of their opposition.

I went to her page. It as white as snow. Totally blank. If Kavanaugh had pulled that crap the Dems would be saying it proves he’s guilty. She does it and no one says a thing.

"She's going to show, and she's going be polished and professional and impressive as all get-out in her lies."

You had me, and then you lost me.

Have you read her professorial reviews from students? She's a rambler. So her open will go over time in an attempt to limit her testimony time.

But when that prosecutor cross-examines her on the wild inconsistencies in her story, she's going to go full-on-deer-in-the-headlights.

And her eyes so close together she could blink with one eyelid! Her optics are going to be SO BAD. Why do you think her shyster is demanding that the Senate PRE-POSITION THE CAMERAS.

I don’t really see the upside to her showing up.

1. No senators will be asking the questions, so as not to make it a political circus, and MORE IMPORTANT to NOT make the GOP look like uncaring idiots for even asking a question.

2. There is no way she will be able to testify under oath that it was Kavanaugh.

3. How is show going to answer the many “whys” that will bge asked.

Why did you wait so long to report this?
Why can’t you recall the location or even the approx. time?
Why can’t you find any witnesses?
Why didn’t you tell a soul until now?
Why did you go upstairs in this house in the first place?
Why were you at the house in the first place in your bathing suit?
Were you wearing a one piece or two piece?
etc.

All media or no media, she doesn’t get to pick and choose. What state is she in now, in her drive across the country?”””

I do NOT think she is driving across the country.

I think the reports that she has been in the DC area all along are correct.

IF so, are there any charges that she can face for deliberately lying to the Senate Committee.???

This should be about responsibility. If the guy is found guilty, punish him.

If however, he is found Not Guilty, the punishment should also fit the crime. This kind of accusation is career ending, even if found not guilty. Mechanisms need to be put in place that..

1. Put the accuser on a list as a predator filing allegations later found false.

2. Full documentation be placed with police that this person was found innocent in a court of law.

3. A notice to Human resources for any possible employer of the findings, for life.

4. Automatic restitution for financial loss to the accused, and awarding of legal fees to be paid by the accuser if found innocent.

Whichever side is found guilty, the punishment needs to be immediate and be taken seriously.

Make no mistake, this is a life changing event.

This is not a search for a feel good moment.

She'll show, be very credible and knock it out of the park by the way she gives a stemwinder of her recollection. In rebuttal, Kavanaugh can only say "I wasn't there and it wasn't me".

A lie is always more effective that the truth in a case like this, since it's easier to believe and can be shaped to fit the narrative that was prepared by the media. A lie is easier to sell, since most people willingly accept them over the truth when the two compete.

Not with a top flight lawyer skewing every lie. I hope she shows but I don’t think she will.

Yep. Kavenaugh is knocking out the lies one by one.

The set-up was unfavorable since the prosecutor was interrupted for Demons to spew nonsense for five minutes.

He is attacking subtly the Demons as a con job and not disgusting his disgust.

Did you notice that she did not say “I do” when asked if she was telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? She just sort of nodded her head and did not say a word.

Maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill but I am morbidly suspicious of ANYTHING the Demons do or say.
