New Yorker reporter: New woman accusing Kavanaugh of sexual assault was not initial source

New Yorker reporter Jane Mayer said Monday that word of an alleged sexual assault committed by Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh while he was in college spread to the Senate and the media before the magazine reached out to his accuser.

“She didn’t come forward with it,” Mayer said NBC’s “Today” show.

“What happened was, the classmates at Yale were talking to each other about it, they were emailing about it. We’ve seen the emails, back in July before Christine Blasey Ford came forward, and eventually the word of it spread," Mayer added, referring to the woman who earlier this month publicly accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her while the two were in high school.

Mayer noted that the latest allegations eventually “spread to the Senate" and "to the media," which led to her and New Yorker contributing writer Ronan Farrow reaching out to the woman.

“After giving it really careful consideration for six days, she decided to talk to [Ronan Farrow],” she said.

Her comments came a day after Mayer and Farrow authored a report detailing a sexual assault accusation against Kavanaugh stemming from his time as a student at Yale University in the 1980s.

Deborah Ramirez is accusing Kavanaugh of exposing himself in front of her and causing her to touch his penis without her consent during a party while the two were in college.

Ramirez has admitted that she was drunk when the alleged incident took place, but expressed confidence that her memory is accurate after discussing it with a lawyer.

"We wouldn’t have run this if we didn’t have a careful basis of people who had heard at the time and found her credible," Farrow said on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Monday.

Kavanaugh has denied the claim, calling it a "smear, plain and simple."

The New Yorker report notes that at least two Democratic offices are investigating the incident. The story was published a week after Ford came forward and detailed an alleged sexual assault committed by Kavanaugh while they were in high school.

Kavanaugh and Ford are scheduled to testify regarding her claims on Thursday. Senate Democrats are calling for the hearing to be postponed in wake of the new allegation.

From Paul Sperry’s piece in the NY Post:

“This spring, Hillary Clinton’s former campaign press secretary Brian Fallon hired one of Feinstein’s top aides on the Judiciary Committee to help tank Trump’s Supreme Court picks from the outside. Together, he and Feinstein’s aide — former deputy general counsel Paige Herwig — launched a liberal nonprofit group called Demand Justice to lead the left’s attack on GOP nominees....”

“Blasey Ford’s lead attorney, Debra Katz, at the same time heads a leftist advocacy group funded by liberal megadonor George Soros, who also is funding Demand Justice, which has raised $5 million to sink Trump’s high court picks...”

https://nypost.com/2018/09/22/how-feinstein-is-conspiring-to-destroy-kavanaugh/

So Soros funded “Demand Justice” last spring no doubt got an email list of possible Kavenaugh classmates, and probably emailed each asking for rumors. Some responded with rumors, made up or not. Then they went digging, and set this whole thing up. Spent 6 days working on the drunk Peurto Rican anti-Trump social justice warrior.

If the FBI gets involved, they better arrest Soros.

You may be right, but Feinstein came out after the letter was leaked. The left was not going to let her get away with this.

It doesn’t matter really, Feinstein has no moral courage, because if she did she would stick up for this candidate, and THEN FIGHT LIKE THE DICKENS against the next one.

Now Trump will gladly choose another conservative and then another and another.

They basically screwed themselves because Thanks to old Harry Reid, they have no leverage ever again as long as we control things.... Ya hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ridiculous huh?

YOu know what’s sad and ridiculous is the absence of any moral fortitude in the current generation, or I should say the current late night crowd.

You know what’s sad and ridiculous is the absence of anyone in the democratic party speaking out against what’s going on. OUr side doesn’t hesitate to call each other out.

Maybe it’s because we were alive when Kennedy was killed. The majority of us were taught respect for the flag, and country, and our elected officials and firemen and police.

We also were the ones who tore these institutions down. So maybe, it’s actually the slightly older guys, Trump’s years and before who have the most integrity.

You think the majority of Baby Boomers are dishonest and un-American? Bull Shyte on that one.

And the GOP is?

So maybe, it’s actually the slightly older guys, Trump’s years and before who have the most integrity.

That's my generation, and we have just as many dirt bags as any other.

You think the majority of Baby Boomers are dishonest and un-American? Bull Shyte on that one.

WTH are you talking about? What in my post would imply that? At what point does ANYTHING in your post prove my #40 to be wrong?

Several of them said it was “not in Brett’s character.”

Bull

By her own admission, this woman has been calling everyone she knew at Yale trying to get them to “help her remember” the event because she was too drunk and incoherent at the time to have any recollection and then pushing her old classmates to provide supporting testimony to back up her allegations

In other words, she was carefully testing to see if she could get them to participate in her false, fraudulent claims against Bret Kavanaugh.

I doubt it. This is particularly inept.

It is being entertained purely at the mob-frenzy emotional level.
