Scoop: Rod Rosenstein is resigning
Axios ^

Posted on 09/24/2018 7:42:59 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge.

Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so plans to step down. Background: Rosenstein talked last year invoking the 25th Amendment and wearing a wire during Trump meetings, the N.Y. Times' Adam Goldman and Michael S. Schmidt reported last week. He denied both allegations.

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein arrived at the White House Monday expecting to be fired, sources told Fox News, in the wake of a report that he suggested wearing a wire against President Trump and invoking the 25th Amendment to remove him from office last year.

Yet speculation remains widespread over his fate.

After one initial report indicated the embattled No. 2 at DOJ had already quit, a source told Fox News he has neither resigned nor been fired as of noon. He is still deputy attorney general, for now.

He was attending a previously scheduled “Principles Committee” meeting at the White House in place of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who is still en route to Washington from Alabama.

Discussions were held over the weekend between Rosenstein and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly about the possibility of Rosenstein resigning, though a source said Rosenstein did not actually offer to resign in those talks.

NEITHER McCabe or Rosenstein needs to collect one single penny in pension or Befits EVER from the USA taxpayers.
They both deserve a one way ticket to GITMO.

Sessions is Rosenstein's boss. He should be resigning to or fired by Sessions.

The WH should be privy to McCabe's and Page's contemporaneous notes as well as interviewing others present at the meeting.

Remove passports.
Place on NO FLY LIST.
Remove all clearances.
Obtain all computers & e-mails accounts data.

Rosenstein hasn’t been doing all of this mischief on his own. There is a large group involved.
Take down them all.

Headline says

“Chaos at the White House: Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein DOESN’T resign and isn’t fired over plans to wiretap Trump and use 25th Amendment to oust him – but ends up attending Cabinet meeting instead”

Massive confusion, indeed....

I am confused about the McCabe statement: If RR is so involved with the Mueller investigation that his departure would put the investigation at risk, then why do we even need a special counsel?

So how is your "scoop" about Rosenstein working out now, Jonathan Swan of Axios??

We have just learned that Rosenstein went to the WH today for a regularly scheduled meeting, nothing more. Rosenstein will meet with President Trump "later this week" in what sounds like a private meeting.

Ok, all things considered now: Rosenstein has already pretty much tried to resign, the WH not wanting to interfere with Kavanaugh proceedings, demurred on accepting yet. Now Rod is attempting his own childlike version of 4D chess. But there is no coming back from this, not really

Shouldn’t Rosenweasel be giving his resignation to the NYTs? They run the country now.

"Chaos at the White House"

Oops... looks more like "Chaos at Axios", and much of the rest of the MSM.

This may have been a two-fer performed by the White House.

First, an effort by the White House to track down leakers

Second, a diversion from the ugly second woman story.

You're right -- Resigning wouldn't prevent him from being raked over the coals. It just wouldn't be as bad as if he clings to office and there is a stream of stories for weeks highlighting everything he did as part of the discussion to force him out/fire him.

The honorable thing for Rod Rosenstein to do is pull his service weapon and put a bullet into his brain.

Just sayin

I believe AXIOS is a COMCAST affiliate, if so, we are in deep trouble if they win the battle of who will get 20th Century Fox, the competitor being Disney.

I do not know if that includes the Fox TV channels.
