Scoop: Rod Rosenstein is resigning
Axios ^

Posted on 09/24/2018 7:42:59 AM PDT by TigerClaws

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has verbally resigned to Chief of Staff John Kelly in anticipation of being fired by President Trump, according to a source with direct knowledge.

Per a second source with direct knowledge: “He’s expecting to be fired,” so plans to step down. Background: Rosenstein talked last year invoking the 25th Amendment and wearing a wire during Trump meetings, the N.Y. Times' Adam Goldman and Michael S. Schmidt reported last week. He denied both allegations.

October Surprise. Rosendirtbag resigning now puts the Mueller Coup front and center for the midterms. The ensuing beltway theater will bury the good economic news which is what the Dems really want to do.

An earlier post on this thread suggests a resignation is more likely. If Trump is in NYC for the U.N. meeting then he’s not firing Rosenstein himself today — that’s for sure.

In the gov’t, I think it has to be a bit more official than that - Or at least agreed upon.

Rosendirtbag knows he’d be fired after the midterms. He wants to cause maximum damage to POTUS by resigning on the eve of the midterms. That puts Mueller front and center with top cover from the GOP and MSM.

Surely not. The coup plotters might complain.

release the FISA stuff NOW!

***************

RR’s gone. That’s nice but we still need to see the FISA docs.

What ever happened to “IMMEDIATE RELEASE”? Oh, that’s right, our “allies” were concerned so Trump agreed to delay their release. I though America was supposed to come first, BEFORE anyone else.

Except that Christie is a Democrat-lite and faithfully serves the DNC. IMO.

No thanks

Trump and his true allies had to know it was a trap to fire Rosenstein. Hannity was screaming not to do it as well as others. Unless there’s something else going on that we don’t know

Offer up another name that has the presence and experience to go toe-to-toe with these folks. Christie was an attorney, was a governor in a hostile state, he has faults, but he would be a loyal representative for Trump. I can’t think of anyone else with DOJ/FBI experience that is similarly qualified, do you?

Well I’ve given up that speculating game, this is as Dan Bongino said the other day, “triple reverse inverse psychology” being deployed. I just throw out all possible theories I can think of. Could be team Mueller, could be McCabe, could be others who leaked that particular story. Could be one with motive and knowledge of the others who said
“go check so and so his/her notes will confirm” so you don;t even know if the facts are being spun truthfully. They will now try to characterize other people’s motives and evidence.

Bottom line though is we all know RR had no business running Mueller, probably a large part of the NYT story is true even if it is an attempted trap, and if POTUS were to appoint an SP (which I think he may end up doing at some point, maybe after midterms) RR would not fare very well in the end. So, better he resigns now, maybe he flips and provides evidence, or maybe he resigns to try to salvage whatever Mueller has cobbled together because AFAIC, even the Mueller indictments/convictions have a shot at being overturned on appeal on the basis of bias or on 4th Amendment grounds or on the basis that the SP had no crime to investigate.

Chris Christie may very well be the worst possible candidate for a DOJ post among any who call themselves Republicans.

He's a great character and did an effective job as governor in New Jersey under impossible circumstances, but his ego and his ambition will get in the way of doing ANY senior level job in the Trump administration.

I'm going to throw out a wild card for a possible senior DOJ role (Deputy AG or Associate AG): Ed Whelan.

Maybe he resigned knowing he was about to be fired. Possibly it will make some difference in govt. benefits he can expect to receive?

So, who will be the next Rosenstein clone to be put in?

This is exactly why Rosenstein would resign now. Get ready for White House palace intrigue 24/7 from the Democrat media.

About freaking time. The sneaky, biased, arrogant swamp dweller should never have been Deputy AG in the first place. Appointed Mueller after Trump exercises his clear constitutional authority in firing Comey, who was also a sneaky, biased Trump hater and needed to be fired.

Trump referred to Rosenstein as a lingering stench.

Has a way with words doesn't he?

Why would Rosenweasel resign to Chief Of Staff and not Sessions?
