The Trump administration on Saturday proposed rules that could deny green cards to immigrants if they use Medicaid, food stamps, housing vouchers and other forms of public assistance.
Federal law already requires those seeking green cards and to prove they will not be a burden or public charge but the new rules detail a broad range of programs that could disqualify them.
The Department of Homeland Security said current and past receipt of certain public benefits above thresholds would be considered a heavily weighed negative factor in granting green cards as well as temporary stays. [ ]
Coming less than seven weeks before midterm elections, the announcement could help galvanize voters who have backed or opposed Trumps broad crackdown on legal and illegal immigration.

Yes! We need to go back to a quota system. Not to beat a dead horse but damn it to hell we’re not Motel 6 for the whole bloody world!
They were never supposed to be eligible for public assistance to begin with. If they couldn’t support themselves or have someone supporting them (not the public) they’re not supposed to be here. Send them home.
Okay.
So, the givernment is finally admitting this horse chit goes on?
The first generation or two of these Latino bastards would work dirt cheap. Then they found out that they didn’t need to do that, they could make just as much money, if not more if they bought more of their kind along with them by just collecting welfare. Now that’s all they’re here for. Screw working,as they see it , the stupid gringo’s will just give them money for being here.
It always was illegal to be on welfare of any sort and green card holder
The media too, after denying non-stop for the past decade.

Workers of the world unite my arse. This is completely unconstitutional imo
Yes. It was pretty well defined in documents, when it was the INS, too. IMO, most of what we’re seeing is exaggeration and hype.
Immigrants are not supposed to be on public assistance. They should be sent back if they are.

I stand behind them in stores and watch them check out carts full of stuff I can’t even afford to look at, let alone buy.
The local car auction is now 80% illegals.

Several years ago I had a mini-stroke after a bad chiro session.
I went to the ER and told them what was going on, as if they couldn’t *see* the right side of my face and eye were drooping.
I waited 7 hours to be seen.
I *think* the elderly white lady who was sitting behind me, sliding progressively further down in her seat, as she waited, too, died.
After all that, and it was *way* too late for that “miracle stroke shot”, they happily took me back and did thousands of dollars of tests on me, although by that time, I was fine.
Couple years later, a hospital worked told me why.
If I “jumped in front of” all the illegals with snotty noses and ingrown hairs, the hospital could’ve been sued for discrimination.
Over 61% of the people collecting some sort of welfare benefits in California is an illegal. California admits that.
Good. That’s the way it should be.
Beer sales hit hardest in rapid decline.
