Iowans are all about “fairness” and being good sports. Don’t worry, Grassley can be as hard as Hickory when he has to be, but he knows the optics of this situation are fraught with danger to the Republican Party.

Chuck Schumer is the “orchestra leader”? So we elected all those Republicans for nothing? I thought the GOP had a majority in the Senate. I guess I was wrong. Chuck Schumer is actually in charge?
Please someone give me a reason to vote for Republicans. Yes, I know if we don’t vote for the GOP then the dems will win and that will supposedly be worse, and I understand that.
But can someone actually give ma a reason, a positive reason, to vote FOR a republican??!?
I'm frustrated, too, but he works very hard and is probably tired. I must give him the benefit of the doubt. I pray that his health holds because he is in his 80's, very articulate. He seems like a decent man although I've never met him.
If he doesn't bend over backwards to accommodate the accuser , people could suffer in the midterms and the press will go rabid for days on all involved in this sideshow nobody needed. Except Democrats.
Now if this was a democrat in the same situation acting like Grassley, there would descend upon his office an army of leftist activists demanding that he stop being a wuss, and he would comply in short order.
Remember when our side had the Tea Party that did that and how well it worked? It seems like such a long time ago.

On the first day of early voting in Minnesota....
The estranged adult daughter of a prominent Republican state legislator, Jim Knobloch, has accused him of unwanted touching, etc. Knobloch denied the charges which have previously been investigated by Social Services and a local prosecutor, both of whom concluded there was insufficient evidence. No matter, the media coverage is so intense, the Father has withdrawn from the election, which was a toss up.
In Arizona, U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar is under assault from some of his own brothers and sisters who cut a TV ad claiming their brother was racist (because he wants The Wall) and in the pocket of large corporations (because he favors the roll back of Global Warming regulations).
Trump also helped out big time this morning by “postponing” the release of the FISA documents.
Another 16 dimensional chess move, apparently.
Just do not change Monday’s date!
They know the Republicans and the few Dems will crumble if they can pull all the stops out using the rapist card (canard).
What better way than a coast to coast tour with a dramatic arrival of the rapee on the steps of the Supreme Court.

Ten bucks says they didn’t “extend” the deadline. Now there is NO deadline. They will just schedule the hearing for Monday morning and be done with it.
If the republicans play hardball and cut her loose then the rats will just trot out another fake accuser. It’s the weekend and they can’t vote yet anyway.
I wonder if Professor Ford is this lenient with her course assignment deadlines.
