I lay the blame for there NOT being 50 locked in yes votes for Kavanaugh from the GOP Caucus directly at the feet of the wimpy Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell!!

He has an aversion to enforcing party discipline on major legislation and his unwillingness at playing hardball with RINO’s like Corker, Collins and Flake on major votes like the Kavanaugh Confirmation!

One thing I admired about Dingy Harry Reid was his ability to enforce party discipline on major legislation/appointments! If Dingy Harry were GOP Majority Leader there WOULD BE 50 locked in votes for Kavanaugh! RINO’s Collins, Corker and Flake wouldn’t DARE CROSS Dingy Harry were he Senate GOP Leader!!

Harry Reid's legacy is that he lost the Senate. And his retirement coincided with the election of Donald Trump. That guy will go down in history as one of the biggest failures in U.S. political history.

He even lost a fight with an exercise machine, for crying out loud. :-P

Spot on. Anybody bucking the Dem party line in a big Capitol Hill battle would be castrated. McConnell is Majority Leader specifically because he allows the “Maverick” cats to wander when they chose. They would have never elected him speaker if he had enforced party discipline to favor POTUS.

*No one* can enforce party discipline because campaigns are funded by each individual pol who has to raise his own funds from private sources and win his own primary to become the nominee before running in the general. Party discipline is easy in parliamentary systems because the party provides their sole funding and can strike them off the list of party candidates. No one can remove a Republican nominee’s name off the ballot, and the funds he raises are his to spend even if he loses in the general. Corker and Flake are leaving, so it’s not clear what hardball means. I suspect Collins would win Maine even if she ran as an independent. In fact, doing so might even improve her chances of winning. And it would deprive the GOP of a fairly reliable vote.
