Mark Levin: Don’t Fire Rod Rosenstein; New York Times Article May Be a Setup

Radio host Mark Levin warned fellow conservatives on Friday evening that they should not rush to conclusions about the New York Times‘ latest story alleging that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein had plotted against President Donald Trump.

He warned that Trump’s enemies might be trying to goad him into firing Rosenstein before the midterm elections by leaking information from memoranda created by former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, who was fired in March for lying.

In addition, Levin cautioned conservatives to consider why the Times — with its record of inaccurate reporting on the Trump administration — would have wanted to expose a threat to Trump. He pointed out several left-wing canards in the article, such as the claim that Trump had asked former FBI director James Comey to end the investigation of National Security Advisor Michael Flynn.

Levin suggested that McCabe, or Mueller — or Mueller’s deputy, Andrew Weismann — had clear motives to leak the claims about Rosenstein to the Times — claims that were tellingly absent from Lisa Page’s contemporaneous notes about the meetings.

“They have absolutely nothing on the President of the United States. They are trying to push their agenda. They are there for one reason and one reason only — to write the report in hopes of impeaching the president with a Democrat Congress,” Levin said.

“The Special Counsel’s office … would like nothing more than the President of the United States to fire Rosenstein to claim that he is truly obstructing an investigation, trying to influence their investigation, and then write it up as, effectively, as in Watergate, a ‘Saturday Night Massacre’ of sorts.

“In other words, it’s a setup of the president,” Levin concluded, adding: “The president must not fire Rosenstein, certainly not prior to the midterm election. That’s what they want.”

Wouldn't this be a perfect time to appoint a second special counsel to look into these purported facts? Trump can remain hands off and get a good look at the workings of the DOJ and Mueller

How is this a trap? Are they trying to trick the president into thinking he is in charge of the DOJ? Are they trying to trick the President into firing someone he doesn't have authority to fire?

What exactly is the trap?

What Levin and Hannity don't realize is that removing these guys from their positions of power is the way to win and stop this sedition. When these guys are out of jobs and facing prosecution they will turn on each other. Deep staters facing prosecution is the only protection the President is going to have if the Republicans lose the House. If the President does not fire these guys now and the Republicans lose the congress it's over. Firing Rosenstein, Sessions or anyone else in the DOJ after losing the house to the dems is going to be seen as an attempt to avoid prosecution and impeachment. The President would be accused of obstruction of justice and it would be hard to argue otherwise. Hannity and Levin are clueless on this.

The mueller ‘probe’ never had any evidence to begin with. It’s a coup by special counsel. According to Digenova, mueller is going to present a report to congress. IOW, he has something.

This is what I came here wondering. If POTUS decides to wait until after the election and the reps lose the house, wouldn’t this be perhaps one of the biggest political blunders in history? If we lose the house sure, POTUS can still fire anyone he wants, but for all intensive purposes these investigations are over. Instead we get endless subpoenas from the democrat lead house committee investigating everything from collusion to POTUS’s taxes and efforts to impeach the newly-seated SCOTUS justice. Sure RR and Sessions are gone, but things are much worse off over all.

I just find it hard to believe that firing this scumbag would actually HURT our chances in the midterms. I mean, hell... you now have the leftist “paper of record” fingering the guy as a treacherous pos.

Ha, you are falling for the bait. ITS NOT WINDING DOWN! IT WILL NEVER WIND DOWN. What is happening is they see the President is getting VERY close to firing their cover man Jeff Sessions so Mueller floats the "it's winding down" rumor to sway the President into inaction. Look it up. Each time the President has appeared to be close to firing sessions mueller floats "He is about to wrap it up". He said this almost a year ago when the President was clearly leaning towards firing sessions. This is like the fourth or fifth time this has happened.

The deep state is buying time until they win in the midterms then they will go for the throat. Count on it.

I know that is just the way it’s going to be whenever POTUS does fire RR and/or Jeff Sessions. But it’s best to wait until after the midterms. IMHO. I agree with Mark Levin.

So we are putting off firing Rosenstein and/or Sessions, releasing the documents, fully funding the wall and cutting spending until after the election.

I too think that the base would be fired up if the hammer came down before the election. Trump has said that he is being advised to wait.

I believe the NY Times wants Trump to fire Rosenstein before the documents are released so that they can make the firing of Rosenstein about obstruction. I also believe that the Times wants Trump to fire Rosenstein before Kavenaugh is confirmed, so that they can muddy up the confirmation hearings.

Right after Kavenaugh is confirmed next week, I would release the documents and then I would fire Rosenstein, both before the election.

I would fire Sessions after the election.
