I wondered why she didn't take the train too. As has been suggested, she may be counting on a caravan and news coverage.
I still think that certain lefties, who know the details of the letter, would find her more valuable as a martyr to ‘the cause’, than as a ‘witness’ to an obvious fiction. If I were her, I would certainly fear driving all the way from CA to Washington. Of course, she is likely not bright enough to believe that ‘fellow travelers’ would ever sacrifice one of their own ‘for the cause’. Best of luck to her.
