The U.S. Navy, in partnership with the Army and the Republic of the Marshall Islands, have started the recovery of oil from the overturned World War II German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen in the Kwajalein Atoll.

The Prinz Eugen was transferred to the U. S. Navy as a war prize from the British Royal Navy after the war, and in 1946, it was loaded with oil and cargo and used to test the survivability of warships during the Operation Crossroads atomic bomb tests at Bikini Atoll.
Back when America did awesome things rather than listen to a whiny woman reflect on her high school party life.

Notice 3 screws on the ship? Very much European.

In August 1979, one of the ship's screw propellers was retrieved and placed in the Laboe Naval Memorial in Germany
Been for a while, apparently.
The US had trouble maintaining the boilers after the German transfer crew flew back to Germany, so the decision was made to use it as a target vessel, towing it from Boston/Philly, through the Panama Canal, to the target area.

They filmed this section of the Prince for the movie Poseidon.I saw the movie as a kid and knew right away what ship it was.
