Look at Whelan's background. I don't think he would have done this without having Garrett on board.

And Garrett apparently DID sign the letter from Kavanaugh's former classmates supporting his nomination.

Maybe Garrett remembers having a party around this time, at his house around the time the alleged incident supposedly took place. Maybe he will testify to that fact and say, to his knowledge, BK was not there, but neither does he remember anything untoward occurring.

I doubt this is the end of the story.

Whelan was Scalia’s law clerk. He is not dumb.

I can think of many plausible scenarios which may be revealed when the other shoe drops.
