Huskies killing smaller animals is a known trait of the breed. They’ll even kill another pet of the owner w/o warning. I had one once. Never again.
I’d have another if I didn’t still miss my old Husky girl so much-she never liked dogs, but loved cats-took a lot of training from day one though...
We had a female husky for over 10 years. She was a wonderful dog, you couldnt ask for a friendlier pooch around people but around animals it was another matter. On two separate occasions a bird flew into the house. Both times she jumped up over 3 feet and bit them out of the air.
When I was a teenager, some people down the street owned a Siberian husky. One day, while it was being walked on a leash past our next door neighbor's yard, it broke free from the grasp of the kid walking it, leaped our neighbor's fence, grabbed their little dog who was sleeping on the grass between its owners and tore it into pieces. The little dog survived and was put back together at the vet's. The family gave the husky away to a farm. Not longer after, the husky had killed 5 ducks and was put down. I would never own a husky, even if you gave it to me free.
Good to know. Only other pets we had at the same time as the Husky were cats...and they were apparently smart enough and fast enough to avoid him.
