Perhaps it converted to Islam.

I used to have a Husky...more than once an opossum got into our fence, only to be nearly instantly killed by the husky. It also killed a bird once. It was actually a very friendly dog towards people, and even very submissive towards my neighbor’s Great Dane, but it seemed to think killing much smaller animals was a game. Hate to say it, but this dog was probably ‘playing’. For comparison, I’ve had dogs that killed squirrels, and they would carry them in their mouths to me - to show off I guess. The Husky, on the other hand, as soon as it kills an animal, it just moves on. It isn’t killing to impress the alpha, or to eat...its just playing.

Probably not.

Two huskies were who killed my cat who was peacefully sleeping on my balcony.

She shredded their ears but was too badly mauled to live.

The owner had the audacity to suggest that it was my fault for letting my cat out. Sure bub, my cat being out caused you to leave your gate open and your dogs travel two blocks to attack her.

He threatened to sue me as his dogs were show dogs.

I suggested we call animal control.

He suddenly became very quiet.

It’s healthy old prey instinct, pretty much all nothern breads have it. 10k years of arctic survival required it.

They are also escape artists. Great family dogs, but need excellent containment.

No, it’s not rabid, this is perfectly normal behavior for a dog that has not been trained by its owners to behave around other animals. All too common is the dog owner who, because they do not have other animals, forget that a dog is a killing machine designed by nature to chase and kill prey, and do not go out and expose their dog to other animals to see their dog’s reaction and to discipline it early so if it ever did get out it won’t get into trouble.

I have lost so many animals - mostly parrots and poultry- to neighbors’ “sweet doggies” that I have lost count and have had to built “bombproof” expensive pens to keep dogs out as dogs are even worse than coons and coyotes. Just because a dog is very good with children does not mean it won’t rip apart someone else’s goat or rabbit pen and kill everything it can. Each and every time the dog owners denied it was their dog until I had to prove it by catching their dog. In one case I gave the dog away to someone more responsible ... in another case an owner did finally pay a little for the damages and got rid of their dog... in another case the owner fixed the hole in their fence and laid down wire to prevent their dog from digging under. In other cases the owner was not to be found so well... too bad for the dog.

Husky types can be hyper and high-drive. Combine it with solid prey drive and they could very definitely do this.

These are small prey animals. Not overly shocking.

But yeah, too many killed to not execute the dog as well.

Why would you think that. Dogs are hunters and at times they will go after animals it sees as prey. Even that dog with owners who swear it would never, ever kill anything. This is why in farm or ranch country it is a given that if your dog harasses or kills livestock it will get shot. You can only do so much to take nature out of a dog.

No.......

Years ago worked with a guy who was transferred to our plant in Shelbyville KY.

He bought a house out in the boonies as well as two huskies. Unfortunately for him, they weren't fenced in and one day they wandered off the property and attacked and killed a neighbor's cow................

They were put down and he was assessed the cost of the cow to the owner.
