Tesla isn’t headed for the graveyard. They’ll just eventually merge with Toyota and within ten years, the Tesla factory in Fremont, CA will be assembling Toyota-branded electric cars.

I do want to add an EV. Not to save the polar bears, but to defeat Russia, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq - you get the point. If youre talking about not using fossil fuels, what do you think is used to generate the vast majority of the power needed to charge your EV? Its the end-to-end energy chain and efficiency that count.

Said the former Government Motors executive, whose arses were bailed out by the taxpayers.

... they are doing around 250,000 yearly now and want to increase....Im more interested in the $35k model which isnt being produced yet.
***********
Sure they’ve ramped production ... they lose money on every car.. How are they going to “make it up?” Volume? that only hurts them... They will have to make the severely money losing base model 3 soon because they’re almost finished building the upscale #3’s they had orders for...
Lutz is right .. and who knows failure when he see’s it better than Lutz?

Don't hold your breath.
The $35,000 Model 3 was just on paper and for marketing purposes, but the reality is that, it will never be a real option.

I know Freepers love to hate
And they really love to hate Elon Musk
But I watched the Joe Rogan show with Musk in entirety recently including drinking some whiskey Id never seen before and smoking some ganj
Rogan was a little milquetoast honestly but I found Musk fascinating
Hes very cool dude and has sharp insight
Granted hes lived off subsidies but not question hes visionary.....and hes idiosyncratic like with the flamethrower....that was so funny
I was impressed with him to be honest
And his taste in women is top shelf.
I like him
Ok come and get me yall

“I will take a real car, like the 720hp 2020 Shelby GT500.”
Just don’t put up the pink-slip!
It took an 840 hp drag set-up Demon to barely eke out a win over a stock Tesla.

If Toyota or any other car-maker bought or merged with Tesla, the first think they would do, is to move the Tesla plant out of high-priced/high-taxes/high-wages/high-regulations/ultra-liberal California.

Two years ago it was zero.

Tesla’s are so overpriced. Paying all that $$ just for a big ‘luxury’ golf cart battery that can only last about 10 years.

Correct, they are doing around 250,000 yearly now and want to increase.
How meaningful is that number?
Why not try total sales dollars versus total cost of operations? Any idea when they'll break even or start being profitable? Profitable on their own without government subsidies and breaks to automobile purchasers. Can you give an assessment that way?

Q2 2018 was a 51% increase over Q1 2018.
At that rate they will be producing a zillion cars in a year or two!

Can you say, Delorean?”

I have a 1992 Conv Vet and 1992 Coupe Vet. They both are maintenance headaches. Expensive Parts and poor access. Poor resale value. A GM low volume Kit Car.
