Aspen Skiing Company recently unrolled a new activism campaign, called Give A Flake, which invites skiers and non-skiers alike to speak out against climate change inaction, with the launch of a variety of online tools that help activists easily contact their elected officials.
However you lean, with a click of a button on the Give A Flake website, you can find out how the elected officials in your area stand on climate change. Then, via Twitter, users can tweet at their local leaders with images and statements that Aspen Skiing Co. has already curated.
The campaign also provides a simple online form that activists can quickly fill out to get through to the phones of both supporters and deniers of climate change.
You can also print off and mail a letter to your elected official, or even make a donation to Protect Our Winters.
Aspen Skiing Co. also has plans to unveil a similar campaign and strategy that will target social equality and LGBTQI rights in America.
Which has what to do with skiing? Are the executives homosexuals?
They will lose business and probably will not notice. People like this are in their own reality.
People from Aspen Colorado are known in the state as
Aspen-Holes for a reason.
Probably.
Heh, there are also Boulder-Butts.
And Denver Dorks.
Just add an “s” to the first one like South Park did.
That's all you need to know about Aspen and the clientele that flock there during the winter months..........
Ever wonder why you never see a black, inner city kid on the U.S. Olympic ski team? That's why.........
Its takes a s**t ton of fossil-based energy to deliver skiers to Aspen’s lift lines.
No they won't, Aspen is the ski mecca for the uber rich elitist snobbers........
I’ll worry about minorities on our ski team right after Russia, China and the Koreas add some to their teams.
Yawn..........
Will merely drive customers away.
Why do we hold ourselves to an impossibly high standard?
One more reason that I never tried skiing.
Looks interesting, I have to admit.
As poorly coordinated as I am, no business on them.
I’ll bet the Aspen Skiing Company doesn’t make any attempt to dissuade people from unleashing the atmosphere-warming gasses generated when flying planes into Aspen.
Sounds kind of astroturfy to me.
Just returned from a wedding there. There was more “non-whites” among our wedding party than all of Aspen put together. In fact, I think our wedding party had 100% of the “non-white” population in Aspen at the time.
“Liberal/Progressive” policies are sold to Liberal/Progressive sheeple on the basis that they will make the folks who make or vote for such policies feel better, not because at the end of the day they ever achieve the claims made for them. Aspen is a perfect reflection of that fact.
The one that gets me is that Pitken County, where Aspen is located, refuses to use anything on the roads after a storm to melt snow. Days after a snowfall you are greeted at the county line with rough packed ice and accidents everywhere.
During ski season it appears 1/3 of all the traffic going to Aspen is hot tub maintenance trucks. Want to cut emissions? Ban hot tubs.
Huh?
