The first nine words of the quote you posted are true. Climate change is real and has been operating for billions of years.

Eugene Robinson is a liberal nutcase and is totally unqualified to write a newspaper column much less to opine on any aspect of science. The climate may get worse or it may get better, depending on the whims of Earth's chaotic natural processes.
