You have to give the Democrats credit, they played this perfectly.
Diane kept quiet through the entire process, and even seemed to sympathize with BK last week, giving her accusations more power.
They clearly knew about this woman for months, but kept it quiet, while they collected whatever they could to prove it. The woman had some sort of lie-detector test done, by her own lawyer, and revealed a “truth” that could just be a “we had a statement that was true”, not necessarily saying that her details are true.
The did it anonymously, gave BK a chance to make a public statement, along with the other male accused, and then brought out the actual charges, but through a newspaper not under oath.
So if anything at all Brett or the other guy said missed ANY truth at all in what she said, their denials will be used as evidence of lying. If they had not spoken, then even if the entire thing were “true”, the argument would be about details, and recollections, and norms of behavior. Now the dems just need to show that BK was in a party with this woman, and even if BK argues there was a consensual act, his previous denial will be used against him.
Now, we presume that there are no people who will stand with this woman from the party, or they would have found those people. BUT, if someone says there is no others, maybe they DO have one other woman who is going to say that BK and this woman were at a party together.
SO hopefully the republicans will just keep quiet and not keep talking about the alleged incident. Better to wait until all the facts are out before saying anything.
Another key Republican member of the Judiciary Committee, Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah complained the accusations were unverified and said the judge had submitted to six FBI background checks over the last 25 years that included interviews with families, friends and acquaintances and never revealed any character issues.
If she is cross-examined and found to be lying, she must go to prison for perjury and treason.

I understand from other sources that much of her on line history was scrubbed before DiFi came out with it, so as to hide her true colors.

Of course she will testify, and she’s been working on this for months, so whether it is true or not, she’s going to sound convincing, even if also not having enough of any details.
We’ll probably have to have the other guy come and testify, and he wrote a book that is going to be scandalous if he gets asked too much about it, so he’s not going to be a great witness. And they’ll probably make BK testify again under oath.
A best case scenario would be either 1) they find another guy who admits to it, and then it looks like bad memory on her part, or 2) they find others at “the party” who can discount the story, which will be hard since we don’t even know what YEAR the party was, or where it was.
She can testify.
But she has to submit to a perjury investigation by the Special Counsel, since he’s been convicting Republicans left and right for lying to the FBI.
