A new state recommended social studies and history curriculum is being introduced in public schools around California that blatantly promotes a bias perspective on the policy achievements of governor candidate Gavin Newsom. Dubbing him Champion for Peoples Rights, the first grade textbook teaches kids about respecting the rights of others by pointing to Newsoms advocacy for same-sex marriage, while mayor of San Francisco. The text doesnt even try to be objective and fails to mention that marriages for same-sex couples were not an established right at the time, but a brand new concept and only legal in a select number of countries.
This lesson is supposed to be for first grade students, but it reads like a piece of political propaganda put together by the Democrat Party, said Jonathan Keller, President of California Family Council. It is both premature and outrageous to list Gavin Newsom alongside universally loved American heroes like George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Millions of Californians who voted twice to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman opposed Newsoms flagrant defiance of our states marriage laws and use of the courts to push his personal views of marriage on the population.
Just a decade later, Californias Department of Education is promoting the controversial political views of a candidate for governor to six year-olds and blatantly smearing the sincerely held religious beliefs of countless families, Keller said. This political puff piece should be removed from any public textbook.
The first grade lesson pictured below is part of a history and social studies curriculum published by Pearson, that is being piloted right now in the Elk Grove Unified School District as part of a textbook update mandated by the FAIR Education Act passed in 2011. Parents were encouraged to come view the new curriculum on September 10, and asked to give the school district input. Parents will have additional opportunities to view the curriculum over the next several months before the Elk Grove Unified School Board gives their final approval in the early part of next year. Contact the Elk Grove board members and let them know what you think of this new textbook.
Every Californian should call their own school district to see if this new curriculum has been introduced in their school district yet.
A picture of the article on Gavin Newsom in the textbook is at the website.
Just what every first grader needs to know.
Mmmm mmm mmm Harvey Milk and Jim Jones. Crazy butt sex California Democrats.
I can remember back in the 50’s when I was in the 5th or 6th grade we had to take a note home to be signed by a parent authorizing us to be included in a class about sex education (normal between man and woman). Many parents objected worrying where this would lead. Now we know.
No wonder so many teachers send their kids to a private schools.
A saga to be absorbed by 6 year olds when countless "Adults" seem to be clueless on the issue (but endorse tax-payer funding for such abominations! Anyone checking "X" for their gender out there?
Just more garbage from the Crotch Culture. We don’t need the curriculum twisting anymore little minds in our schools. We’ve already got too many drugged-up ‘crack babies’ throwing tantrums and disturbing classes.
Brillant methodology! This is a two for one indoctrination. First, the parents get introduced to Newsom as a hero to the school system and their beliefs, then if it passes with their approval through the school board, they get to the indoctrinate their kids of not only that lifestyle, but what a wonderful person Newsome is and that he is right up there with Washington and other American heroes. After the parents see this how can they not vote for this hero to be their governor.
This is just another campaign method of the Dems in CA. They know that the Hispanic community is starting to turn against them due to their stance on the abortion issue. But the Dems also know that Hispanic culture is taught from birth that anyone that is in education is thought of as the authority that is not to be challenged or questioned in any way.
This is a foul play in the campaign for governor. The GOP should be screaming from the halls of Sacramento about how illegal it is to use the public school system to support their candidate. Not that the media is going to give them a second of airtime on all of this.
Anybody got a good explanation why we need to teach first graders about the KY Cowboys from Brokeback Mountain? That’s pretty sick if you ask me. JMHO.
I feel sorry for FReepers who still live in CA. Maybe this will be the straw that broke the camel’s back regarding moving someplace sane. There are lots of them.
Gavin doesn’t give a damn about us.
Most teachers in California send their kids to private schools.
A 2004 Fordham Institute study found that 39% of Chicago public school teachers send their own children to private schools.
People laugh at absurdity-filled propaganda textbooks from the old Soviet Union, etc., but we’re now living with our own version.
We are moving out ASAP. I am counting the day until the house goes on the market and we leave to full-time in our RV. We will be looking for a place where we can put down our roots, without being surrounded by socialists.
Please consider South Carolina and specifically Aiken County where I live. Very different from and not close to CA but very few socialists.
I moved here in 2003 from Louisville, KY after spending six months researching a good place to live. The Good Lord above lead me here and I’m very happy.
Aiken County is a wonderful place. Across the river from Augusta, GA. Couple big reservoirs nearby with good fishing and rec. Don’t miss historic Abbeville a county over.
I know. I live in Aiken County. Try sending your post to notpoliticallycorewrecked. See post 17.
Millions of Californians who voted twice [emphasis added] to define marriage as the union of a man and a woman opposed Newsoms flagrant defiance of our states marriage laws and use of the courts to push his personal views of marriage on the population."
If California was making sure that school children were being taught about the Constitution as the Founding States had intended for it to be understood, then students would probably be able to argue the following about how California state actors violated voter-related, constitutionally enumerated protections.
More specifically, the Founding States had protected ordinary voters by guaranteeing all states a republican form of government.
"Article IV, Section 4: The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government [emphasis added], and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

All roads of federal and state government corruption lead to the feds imo.
More specifically, noting that the states have never amended the Constitution to expressly protect politically correct LGBT "rights" (or so-called abortion "rights") as the Founding States did with the rights protected by the Bill of Rights, please consider the following.
Corrupt Congress and the lawless Obama Administration wrongly remained silent while misguided, pro-LGBT California state actors wrongly compromised the state's republican form of government evidenced by the state's ignoring of the will of majority voters concerning the traditional marriage initiative, the feds failing to do their duty to guarantee each state a republican form of government by remaining silent.
The remedy to corrupt states and a likewise corrupt federal government
Regarding fighting federal and state government corruption, patriots have a golden opportunity to kill two birds with one stone in the 2018 midterm elections.
More specifically, patriots in all states can come to rescue of California citizens by firing as many career Democrats and RINOs as they can in the 2018 midterms elections. Patriots need to replace career lawmakers with Trump-supporting patriot lawmakers who will make punitive laws to discourage state actors from ignoring the voice of the people like they did with the California traditional marriage initiative.
