THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

HARRY WARREN

42ND STREET: “YOU’RE GETTING TO BE A HABIT WITH ME”

To wrap for tonight, I’ve found a short classic from the master of parody. Allan was the producer of “What’s My Line?” for years on CBS, also known for his four-pack-a-day habit, which eventually killed him. In the late 1950s he would entertain at parties in Scarsdale along with his friends with their parodies of various hits of the day. He hit the jackpot in 1962, and this is from his second album in 1963.

Allan Sherman: “You’re Getting to be a Rabbit with Me”

Tune in tomorrow night for more Harry Warren and the Great American Songbook.

I was WONDERING if you would include that one! LOL! My Dad had all of Allen Sherman’s records, and I knew all the songs by heart. I think I may have sung this one for my second grade class, and the teacher was mortified! hahahaha
