Not at all, in fact I admire your honesty. Texans are free to chose who they like or dislike and I respect their right to do so.
If we lose a senate seat because of Willie then we deserve what we get. Willie may influence some, but they were going to vote democratic anyway. There are some senile democrats that will always vote straight ticket. They bleed blue. Hispanics and other ethnic groups are beginning to wise up and some are switching parties.
Now consider Beto, he is of Irish descent with a Hispanic nickname, and a no nothing record of accomplishments. His only hope is that people will not notice he is pulling their chain to get elected. Cruise must convince these voters ol' Beto is yanking their chain.
Rafael, on the other hand, is of Cuban descent (by way of Canada) and has a proven voting record in the Senate. He is not as despised as many would have us believe. He has to convince them he is not yanking their chain or ours.
At last! A safe place in Texas to not be a Willie fan! I didn’t know if it would be safe for me to “come out” as a non-Willie Texan. ;)
My concern is that Beto has charisma. That seems to sell in this era. There’s nothing charismatic or charming about Cruz. He’s just got the smarts and the conservative creds. Maybe I’m selling Texans (and most of today’s voters) short. Maybe they’re more sober about electing someone who’ll protect America and her founding principles than I give them credit for. We’ll know soon enough. I’ll be white-knuckling it till November 6.
