US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley warned Russia and Iran of "dire consequences" if they continue airstrikes against the last rebel-held area in Syria and said the US would respond to any use of chemical weapons.
Russia's ambassador to the UN met Haley's threat with a denial that Syria has any chemical weapons, as the UN secretary-general warned of a potential "bloodbath" during Tuesday's UN Security Council meeting on the crisis in Idlib, Syria.
(Snip) Haley said that pro-regime forces are also "conducting ruthless 'double tap strikes' on civilian volunteers like the White Helmets," in which they "strike an area, wait a few moments for first responders to arrive and then strike again."

Great. Another “red line”.
The US needs to stop supporting and funding these terrorist groups. Haley is way off base here. The “chemical attacks” are false flag events, widely reported in the press as such. The US govt should be wise enough not to take this rotten bait.
It is so chaotic in Syria, I’m not sure what is what. The forces in Idlib are not Kurdish forces I gather. They are under our protection. However, are these actually ‘terrorist/islamist’ forces or are they truly forces that want to overthrow Assaad for democracy?
Do we know these groups in Idlib?
If we are absolutely sure that these groups are not islamists but indeed true pro democracy forces then I can get behind protecting them. The only ones over there I truly know we can trust are the Kurds. If we are not sure, then we should not be involved. Having Islamist forces take over Syria is just as bad and perhaps worse than having Assad there and does not serve our national interests.
If the rest of the world wants to get outraged by the use of chemical weapons, let Germany/France/Britain strike. For myself, children getting killed by a 500 pound bomb is just as tragic as children getting killed by cholorine gas. I’ve never understood the difference.
Plenty of ‘warnings’ to Russia and Assad for this and for that.
The NeoCon nutjobs are getting closer to their wet dream of their proxy war with Putin in the Middle East.
Next up will be the proxy war with China in Africa. Stay tuned...
Dire consequences for air strikes?
Apparently Haley and her cohorts have moved the “Red Line”.
And, apparently, POTUS Trump is no longer in charge.
All of this Syria mess is effluent from the Blumenthal-inspired Clinton/Obama/McCain Arab Spring initiative. We should just get out. It’s not worth this insane brinksmanship that’s going on with the Russkies.
She is a Romney person. Establishment to the core and beyond. She is the #1 person I have distrusted in the White House since before day 1.
Is there any doubt that she's playing for the Deep State? Comments such this are always timed to keep President Trump on their war path.
Agree 100%.
"Don't hurt John McCain's al-Qaeda buddies! Honor this great statesman! Leave his terrorist friends alone! Or else, something..."
I hope Russia napalms every last one of them in John McCain's memory.
You are correct to distrust her.
She is a Bush League Republican.
Is the ghost of John McCain running our foreign policy in Syria? Trump should go back and read his own campaign words about Syria and get out and stay out.
THIS! and everyone please do not miss this is going on. I believe this is is what Deep State wishes to do. Force Trump into a war to deflect from the unleashing of the hounds on their corruption.
This would be a real tragedy. They always use this gas attack BS. I do not trust Haley. She is a Rubio and McCain acolyte.
A few months ago, Trump said we were getting out of Syria, but queen bee Nikki corrected him and said we were staying. I guess we are seeing who’s running the show and it does not look good for Trump.
I don't trust Haley, who has too much baggage, and the past several times I've seen her speaking, she appears to be reading or reciting a memorized speech.
So maybe a kinda of a wag the dog but to protect the deep state.
“And, apparently, POTUS Trump is no longer in charge.”
I would bet that Mattis has already addressed this and knows what our capabilities in the area are. Trump doesn’t make idle threats without knowing he could deliver.
I agree.
Yet the US just pulled off a Phosphorus attack. Clowns!
