Retired New York Giants star Michael Strahan made clear that he supports former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other football players kneeling for the national anthem ― and would do it himself if he was still playing in the NFL.
“I know why [Kaepernick] knelt was not in any disrespect to the military or anybody in the armed services, because I have an appreciation for that,” Strahan said on Ellen DeGerenes’ show on Monday, adding that his father was a retired major in the military.
“And when my father can look at me and tell me that he’s not offended by it and that he understands, then how could I — who didn’t do that service — be offended?” he said. “That’s one of the things you can do in this country — is you can protest — and [Kaepernick’s] protesting injustices that he sees happening.”
When DeGeneres asked Strahan, who ended his NFL career in 2008, if he would kneel if he was still with the league, Strahan answered, “I think I would have.”
“I would have had a conversation with my father and based on that conversation ― and conversations I’ve had with him ― I’m pretty sure I would have.”

Strahan tends to pander to what’s most popular, and most expected. To be a successful Morning Show person, you almost have to maintain an empty vessel for a soul, or conform to the intolerant majority. He seems rather cold, unless being nice would put money in the bank. Many entertainers are or eventually become this way.
Is Strahan that fool who got taken by his wife in the divorce proceedings, with everybody laughing that he must’ve had her write their prenup?

I hate when either side of the argument makes it all about the military. The anthem isn’t just about the military.
And yes, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for every member of the military who served this country with honor.
I’ve disliked this overated plonker since his playing days and throughout his thoroughly undeserved broadcast career. Nice to know I was a visionary.
He was my favorite Giant when I was an NFL fan. Now, he can kneel or stand on his head for all I care. I still have no idea what happened in the Giants game last weekend and haven’t even cared to look.

I don't like the guy, but he's not a loser ... and if you look around the NFL today you'll almost certainly see that the players kneeling for the national anthem are invariably misfits and losers -- mostly playing for awful teams, too.
No way in hell would Strahan join that stupidity.
Mike has gone over to the dark side. In order to keep those annual million$ in paychecks coming, he has to mouth the words, act like a squish and be a “good” metrosexual. At the moment he thinks the smoothest path for him is to kneel, for the whole leftist agenda. Sad. But now there’s no longer any question as to what he’d do when crunch time came. He just told us. That should help the ratings for his new afternoon show on ABC - I know I won’t be watching.....
