I learned from a chancery-connected source last week that Washington, D.C. Cardinal Donald Wuerl, choking on his rage at my reporting of his misdeeds, ordered security staff at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the crown jewel of his archdiocese, to call the police immediately whenever its officials saw me upon its premises. I got my hands on Wuerls Most Wanted List at the Basilica and my photo figures prominently on it. (Click here.)
The confidential document addressed to the Security Office under the subject Current Photos of Barred Individuals states: If any of these people are spotted at the Basilica a Security supervisor should be alerted and the police contacted immediately.
Welcome to Donald Wuerls archdiocese of pastoral accompaniment. Wuerl insists that his pastors meet people where they are. In my case, his pastors stand ready to accompany me into the arms of police officers.

The man is pathetic and hopefully will go to jail.
There, he can be the mama.
The Church had better get into action on this whole gay mafia thing. It’s gone too far.
Catholic Hierarchy - Corrupt liberal ‘elite’ thugs.
The National Shrine is NOT Wuerl’s!
Donald Wuerl, the cardinal of Washington, D.C., prides himself on his pastoral practice of distributing the Holy Eucharist to Democratic pols no matter how many unborn children they vote to kill.
The liberal media is naturally ecstatic, seeing Wuerls plum as yet another proof that Francis is the pope they have been waiting for.
The New York Times found the news very exciting indeed, assigning two reporters to the story. Pope Francis moved on Monday against a conservative American cardinal who has been an outspoken critic of abortion and same-sex marriage, by replacing him on a powerful Vatican committee with another American who is less identified with the culture wars within the Roman Catholic Church, they reported.

I am moderately encouraged that some 29 U.S. bishops --- 30 if you include Card. Burke, who is an American but not now a U.S. resident--- have called for a full investigation of the charges Archbishop Vigano made in his 11-page "Testimony."
I hope everybody has read it by now. It's right here in .pdf from DocumentCloud.
It's terrible, but my favorite line is where Vigano calls Wuerl a "shameless liar." Ah! For once, a straight-talking man.
At any rate, it's not even "Wuerl's" Cathedral. That would be St. Matthew's. As a National Shrine, Immaculkate Conception was initiated by the Archbishop of Baltimore way back when Baltimore was, I think the United States' primatial diocese, and built on land donated by the Catholic University.
Probably the Archdiocese of Washington has some formal jurisdiction --- I'm no lawyer, I don't know how it's incorporated --- but I'm guessing that it most properly is governed by some kind of trustees set up by the USCCB in the name of all Catholics in the USA.
Had to be talking about Cardinal Burke.
The astounding thing is that Burke was fired by Pope Francis for obedience to Canon Law; and Wuerl rewarded for disobedience.
Here's what happened. Back in 2004, McCarrick freaking LIED to the USCCB about a letter then-Cardinal Ratzinger had written stating that ministers of the Eucharist MUST deny the Sacrament to pro-abortion politicians. Ratzinger, as head of the CDF, ruled that denial of Communion is OBLIGATORY regarding the grave sin of abortion or euthanasia.
He wrote, "If the person in question, with obstinate persistence, still presents himself to receive the Holy Eucharist, the minister of Holy Communion MUST refuse to distribute it.
One week later, at the USCCB meeting, McCarrick did not read or distribute copies of the Razinger/CDF letter to the other bishops. Instead he LIED and said the letter stated that they should 'discuss' the question about giving Communion to the bort politicians (like Kerry who was running that year.) They ended up passing an extremely weak compromise, basically saying "each bishop do what you want."
But here's the kicker. One month after that, in early July, the Italian newspaper LEspresso printed the full text of the Ratzinger letter, and it was picked up and reported on by the Washington Times as well. So everybody knew McCarrick had flat-out lied--- the press knew, the public knew, the USCCB bishops knew, heck, even I presume then-Pope John Paul II and Cardinal Ratzinger knew and yet nothing was done.
They tolerate lying and malfeasance from a Cardinal that no sensible office manager would tolerate from a file clerk.
This just kills me. I can't even express how angry this makes me.
In Biblical terms, I think I am among those who "hunger and thirst for justice."

Ding, ding, ding - we have a thread winnah!
Wow!
I wonder if it is time for Pope Benedict XVI to be asked to “un-retire” and return as the replacement for Pope Francis and to clean house?
