Alaska had to get special permission to do some flying. So many villages are accessible only by small planes.
I think it was my brother that told me about some friends that went on a fly-in camping fishing trip. Pilot drops them off at a camp that is already setup for a week.
The week goes by and no float plane to pick them up. They waited for quite awhile, then after several(?) days or more they figure the pilot must have crashed - and no one will be looking for them. So they start planning on how to hike out the xx miles through rough terrain.
The following day the plane came and picked them up before they had left camp.
In me re-telling the story, that would have been really foolish. I’m pretty sure they were on a paid trip through a service. If the plane had crashed, the guide company would have figured it out fairly quickly, and sent a plane to search, etc.
