David Hogg was thrown into the national spotlight after the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Valentine's Day. Ever since then, Hogg has become one of the faces of the "March for Our Lives" movement, the gun control group that is predominantly made up of Stoneman Douglas survivors.
Since Hogg has become a household name, he assumes that he knows anything and everything about guns. Hint: He doesn't.
Earlier this week he tweeted out one of the dumbest things he's ever said (and there have been a lot!). According to Hogg, an AR-15 is an "assault weapon" (WRONG!) and is designed to hunt.
The effective range of an AR-15 is 1600 feet for comparison your typical handgun is 75 feet if you’re shooting somebody from 1600 feet away you’re not defending yourself...

Let me guess, does AR also stand for "assault rifle" in your book of gun knowledge?
At least gun rights activists were quick to educate Hogg and his followers.

I just wish someone would tell him .. and all of the other “gun rights activists” .. that the AR in AR-15 doesn’t stand for “Assault Rifle”, it doesn’t stand for “Automatic Rifle”, it stands for “ArmaLite”, the original maker/designer of the weapon.
I have one that says Armalite right on it. We’re going fishing later.

WGAS? AR, pistol, 22 caliber 50cal.? I see home defense as anything that will hide behind a blade of grass. 1600 feet away will take out a deer or a PU with MS-13s or ISIS nuts if they are stupid enough to pull their kind of $#!t here! We aren’t talking only about home break ins or convenience store heists. Its the over all picture which includes invasions and internal tyranny. Do we know for sure if it’s referring to the AR-15/M-16, or to the AR-18? The IRA had both, though I don’t know which was predominant.
Many of their ARs/M-16s actually came from Vietnam, by way of the KGB.
My 22 has a range of 1 1/2 miles. I know it does, cause that’s what it says on the box: “Caution! Range, 1 1/2 miles!”
