Because these bases were a way for the local senator/congressman to show the people back home that he was bringing the bacon home. The Senate ended up establishing a commission to decide which bases were to be closed.
This type of passing the buck by our representatives is not new.
Many federal agencies have been created over the years to do work that the elected representatives did not wont to have to take the responsibility for with their votes in the House or Senate.
Things like the EPA, HUD, etc. came into existence.
This past week I came across an article discussing the Supreme Court and the Trump appointments so far and the people on his list should we be fortunate and have Trump appoint a few more Supreme Court justices.
The article discussed what cases the Court has recently ruled on and what is working its way to them.
Cases like the Union Dues issue, the EPA's navigable waters issue are the beginning.
The article happily pointed out that the bureaucracy overreach is being addressed and that this will lead to a reduction in the size and scope of the Federal G'ment.
The new Court members see the Federal bureaucracy as UN-Constitutional over-reach.
Forcing the House and Senate to vote on legislation, making then accountable to the voting public is a good start.
Trump's spring declaration that he will NOT sign another omnibus budget bill is an additional sign of what I hope is a return to a Constitutional Republic that has made the world a better place
Awwwww-you are making me blush.I have to say I’ve learned so much from your posts and analysis Rodguy! Some of it has kept me awake at night.
Fishtalk.....we used to raise and show pugs. Had 8 at one time, now down to 3 senior pugs, 2 soon to be senior Swedish Vallhunds, 5 aging cats and one crazy 50 year old parrot who sings showtunes in the middle of the night. Nice quiet household!
Trying to decide what to watch today, choices are not that great. Maybe Maria-but she has my freaky senator Graham on as a guest.
It's getting to be if someone calls you a racist or a nazi it's a badge of honor!! You most likely not only hit a nerve on a commie but you made a great catch on a bad guy.
In the case of the Swedes they let in hundreds of thousands of mad muzzies and are now paying the price but won't admit it.INstead they try and muzzle anyone who voices the truth.
Sound familiar?
Thanks pugmama but my neighbor has everyone beat.
She has chickens, cats, dogs, parrots, ducks,a bird feeder, and a small fish house in the back.
At least Graham inserted some comedy with his “This is a circus not fit for kids” remark at the hearing. Someone needs to laugh, if not the hearings would make us cry!
Watching lots of College Football games this weekend, it was noted most of the teams have Nike uniforms.
George Papadopoulos vs. Geroge Stephanopoulos...it all sounds Greek to me.
Watching Chris Wallace interview VP Pence. Had to change channel. Chris Wallace is agent for DNC. Every answer VP Pence gave, Chrissy argues. Chrissy is a real rear hole.
thanks you so much for this one:

George Webb at his finest 2:00 he unloads on Nellie Ohr as a cia mole who successfully gets spies in numerous universities, the brookings of the world and who knows where else.Webb says Fiona willout the white house spy ring,as good as it gets.
Webb says its all about shipping covert weapons.
Looks like Deep Throat was invented again to keep Woodward’s book relevant. Everyone in the W.H. should be forced to sign a letter saying it is fine for N.Y. Times to release their name to the public. The person who refuses to sign, should be ask to take a lie detector test. Obama forced people to take lie detector test because he was so paranoid.
My Ducks are getting over the loss of Slick Willie Taggert.
Wallace thinks he is Woodward.
Wallace is another apple who didn’t fall far from the horse.
I find it odd Papadapoulis is doing only the leftist shows and ignoring the people who defend him. Im also surprised there has been little pushback on what a sham investigation this was. I would have expected the Trump people to have at least talked with him and put together some talking points. Perfect patsy.
Walice haranging the Veep over anonymous traitor in the Woody Bobward article.
The hole from Delaware is now up. *click*
Then the media attacks him unfairly making it easy to expose their lies. They use pictures of him that are chosen for facial distortions with the most recent article entitled "We are a superpower run by a simpleton" showing him looking retarded. They started it a long time ago by calling him Hitler and ran out of baseless smears a long time ago. So now they are left with made up crap and nobody believes them except the liberal koolaid drinkers.
Amen! Never, ever forget.
>>Everyone in the W.H. should be forced to sign a letter saying it is fine for N.Y. Times to release their name to the public. The person who refuses to sign, should be ask to take a lie detector test.
I love this idea!
Sheesh!
That lineup looks as if the whole MSM’s going for a reprise of “1984” with these Sunday shows as competitive HOURs of Hate.
(It is kind of all those DeepStaters to self identify, though)

CHEMONICS: USAID (CUT OUT) used to fund projects under the guise of being USAID.
PROJECTS FUNDED INCLUDE:
Supplying ISIS with Chemical Weapons like Chlorine and Sarin Gas
WHITE HELMETS: Media portrays as good people working with USAID to help the people in war torn countries. However after many horrific stories and video images have come to light, we now realize just what these so called "good guys" were actually doing and how the Western Media had helped cover up and lie about the crimes these white hats had committed.
