A Dallas police officer who fatally shot her neighbor and later explained she had mistaken his apartment for hers will be charged with manslaughter, the police chief said Friday.

I don't know if it works this way with police but civilians who have alcohol on board and a gun on them or close enough to grab it can get extra time for more minor infractions like a DUI. The person might get 10 days in jail for the DUI but then get 2 years for having a gun while drunk/drinking.
Anyone know if it works the same way for police. I know they are expected to be armed; even when off duty but I've never heard a clear answer on when they drink. Might be a case by case thing for the judge to decide.
I say that she is a black woman rejected by this black man.
She was just getting even.
Are you OK with your daughter or granddaughter taking one for the team, if someone like this cop barges into their home and shoots them?
‘Other than that she was 100% spot on...cop or no cop.’
a centrifuge couldn’t spin faster than you are here...
I was on muh work computer at the time and they have it locked down.
Hate pit IT department
I don't know about you but if this case goes to trial (rather than a guilty plea having been entered) I'd be curious to hear what her lawyer has to say.
Really? What if it was a little kid who wandered in? Or someone elderly. Relax Quick Draw.
’ Please don’t blame it all on women cops when there are so many inept male ones around as well.’
except these inept men weren’t hired based on their genitalia...
Breaking and entering and murder. How many decades is she getting?
You sound confused. It was an adult female who "wandered" into that apartment.
Honey I’m home, what’s for dinner?
FIX IT YOURSELF!!!
BLAM!
Agree.
Aren’t women the more competent gender?
Isn’t that the reason “Wymen” activists told us this is the state the world is in. Hillary told us this!
One could argue entering the wrong address assuming it was your own, shooting an unarmed mental health professional lying in the street in broad daylight, saying “I’m unarmed” “He’s unarmed” “It’s not a gun” and having one’s own weapon removed from a known dangerous man is a bit different from confronting a certain subgroup in this certain subgroup’s ‘home turf” in the dark, often by themself is different.
Just sayin’ the selection process should be more strict and not based on what’s “stylish” according to the political whims.
If my daughter,or granddaughter, were to walk into *her* home and find an unauthorized person there I’m hoping that the first thing she’d do is shoot.
Your words quick draw.
Did her apartment key unlock her neighbors apartment, or did she leave her apartment unlocked all day? Nobody who is NOT under the influence, would be stupid enough to walk into the wrong apartment, especially after either finding the door unlocked, or finding her key doesn’t fit. Something is being left out of this story, IMHO.
I'd rather be judged (or see my kids/grand kids be judged) by 12 rather than be carried by 6.
“This is what happens when a persons highest qualification for being an officer is that she has a vagina.”
Bingo!!!
I’d vote guilty on anything up to and including first degree murder.
I've already acknowledge knowing very, very little about exactly what happened. If others know more then that's fine.
Given that this just happened yesterday I'd wager that very few,if anyone, who isn't directly involved knows anything more than the few tidbits seen in the press.
So I would rephrase your comment to read "much has yet to be revealed about this case".
