Obama could not hold back his irritation that Trump is receiving credit for the roaring economy nearly two years after his leaving office.
At a speech at the University of Illinois, Obama scoffed that some of the greatest economic numbers in American history are occurring under Trump’s administration. Obama mentioned the financial crisis at the beginning of his term saying “When I came into office in 2009 we were losing 800,000 jobs a month.”
“Millions of people were losing their homes. Many were worried we were entering into a second Great Depression. So we worked hard to end that crisis but also to break some of these longer-term trends,” Obama said, “And initiated the longest streak of job creation on record. We covered another 20 million Americans with health insurance and we cut our deficits by more than half, partly by making sure people like me who have been given such amazing opportunities by this country, pay our fair share of taxes, to help folks coming up behind us.”
“I mention all this just so when you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let’s just remember when this recovery started,” Obama then said, “I’m glad it’s continued but when you hear about this economic miracle that’s been going on, when the job numbers come out, monthly job numbers, suddenly Republicans are saying ‘It’s a miracle.’ I have to remind them, actually, those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016.”

Tell The Won that PRESIDENT Trump has killed over 1500 job destroying regulations, opened the global lock box by demanding an end to punitive tariffs on American goods and so many other reasons why jobs are plentiful.
The Won had little or nothing to do with it.
Oh, I forgot. Obama presided over the biggest financial giveaway to banks and corporations in the history while beggaring every saver and worker in the land.
He enriched his Wall Street buddies and banks.
If I remember correctly, didn’t the market begin it’s positive run just after Trump was elected, even before his policies went into effect?
That’s like cancer taking credit when a victim makes a miraculous recovery from death’s doorstep.
Funny, the economic miracle happened right after a big government socialist president was replaced by one implementing more conservative policies. Just like Carter being replaced by Reagan. I’d say there’s a pattern developing here regarding cutting taxes, cutting regulations, cutting government, improving the environment for free markets to flourish, etc.

I reiterate, how can they possibly be relevant when we cut regulations and taxes, eviscerated Obamacare and OMG gave up on global warming - in what version of liberal reality could the economy possibly be booming? But it is. Isn’t it obvious we don’t need them?

If Obama hadn’t destroyed the economy, Trump couldn’t have done a “miracle”. Trump’s economy would have been considered “normal” if Obama put America First. Give Obama credit. /sarc
Duh. Just look at the number of people who left the workforce ( not counted in unemployment rates) versus the number of people that can back in the workforce under Trump. Looking only at unemployment rates is delusional.
To be fair Obama did inherit a huge mess...which he blamed on Bush for two years...
The next six years are on him...
