Former President Obama criticized President Trump and Republicans for taking credit for the growing economy, arguing the economic recovery began during his presidency.
Obama also mocked Republicans for praising monthly jobs report that he suggested they undersold, at best, when he was president.
"When you hear how great the economy is doing right now, let's just remember when this recovery started," Obama said in remarks at the University of Illinois.
"When the monthly job numbers come out suddenly Republicans are saying its a miracle," he added.
Obama said his presidency saw similar numbers, after the recovery from the Great Recession that began before he arrived in office. "Actually those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015," Obama said.
Trump and Republicans have been pointing to strong economic numbers as a key argument in the midterm elections, which Obama is now pushing back on.

If Obama hadn’t increased food stamp usage to record high levels, or decreased labor participation rate to such a low, Trump would not have been able to have made such huge improvements. Give Obama his due. /sarc

Okay, you got me on that one! I actually listened to a clip of Obama and was immediately nauseous. I forgot how vile he was.
Obama was handed an economy that was a man in cardiac arrest.
He proceeded to sit on the man’s chest and claimed he was doing CPR.
Trump took over and did the bypass surgery and Obama is trying to take credit for the man/economy surviving.
You didn’t build this economy ZERO, DJT and real Americans did. And did it despite usurpers, commies, socialists, and traitors like you trying to tear us apart.
Yes- let’s remember when it started...after the Republicans took back congress. And let us remember that the recession started around 2007, after the Democrats took back congress.

Obozo is absolutely correct. The unemployment numbers were pretty much the same during the time of his reign. But there is a funny thing about math that the libs love to exploit. “Look at the rate” while holding up there hands over the entire equation. You can get a low rate one of two ways. Increase the number of people with jobs or reduce the number of people being counted. Anyone care to refresh Obozo on the number of people who left the workforce while he was getting those unemployment rates? Trumps economy has resulted in the best labor rate numbers in history (somebody check me here, not 100% sure) while getting the low unemployment rates.
