Nike isn’t the only company that’s decided to try its hand at political activism this week. On Tuesday, Levi Strauss & Co. CEO Chip Bergh published a piece for Fortuneoutlining his company’s official plans to team up with Michael Bloomberg’s “Everytown for Gun Safety” group to fund new efforts at promoting gun control legislation with other American business leaders.
“I’m proud to announce,” Bergh said in the piece, “that Levi Strauss & Co. is partnering with Everytown for Gun Safety and executives including Michael Bloomberg to form Everytown Business Leaders for Gun Safety, a coalition of business leaders who believe, as we do, that business has a critical role to play in and a moral obligation to do something about the gun violence epidemic in this country.”
After lamenting that “Americans shouldn’t have to live in fear of gun violence” and touting his company’s history as “a pioneer of the American West and one of the great symbols of American freedom,” Bergh went through the updates that Levi and Strauss intends to make to its pro-gun control policies in some detail (Levi’s has already banned concealed and open carry of firearms in their stores nationwide).

Levi has been quietly political for a long time. I switched to Wrangler as a result.

Just dropped two pair of beach sneakers in the garbage.
One is brand new the other I wore once or twice.
There are more of us than there of you and you better find an apology because I like Wrangler products just as well and other brands.
Now I have to buy two more beach sneakers.
Going to enjoy the Youtube videos of people shredding Levi’s with shotguns.......

I won’t do anything with what I already own, but I won’t buy Levis going forward. My Dickies are more comfortable anyway.

Levi’s stores are now the bulls-eye for the next mass murder. The solution to protecting the public is to train citizens about safe gun practices and marksmanship. Save Innocent Lives — BAN GUN FREE ZONES. We will continue to be subjected to these atrocities as long as mentally ill loners are not afraid there might be another well armed individual in their intended attack area.
Levi Strauss is a privately-held firm. I fully support their right to spend their money in any way they choose.
That said, the last pair of Levis I bought was in the 1980s.
I’ve never owned a pair of Levis. I’ve always found them to be way overpriced. Right now I buy my jeans at gun-friendly Bass Pro.
What’s really interesting is how corporate America and our elites all support the slogans of “social justice” and “resistance”
Is Colin Kaepernick really an outsider and rebel when he gets paid $3 million by the largest brands in America?
Who really represents the establishment and the ruling class?
Ok...here’s a boycott I can support. I don’t buy Nike crap so I can’t boycott them but I do...or rather did...buy Levi’s. No more.
