Bob Woodward’s New Book Reveals a ‘Nervous Breakdown’ of Trump’s Presidency
The Washington Post ^ | Tuesday, September 4, 2018 | Philip Rucker and Robert Costa

John Dowd was convinced that President Trump would commit perjury if he talked to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III. So, on Jan. 27, the president’s then-personal attorney staged a practice session to try to make his point.

In the White House residence, Dowd peppered Trump with questions about the Russia investigation, provoking stumbles, contradictions and lies until the president eventually lost his cool.

“This thing’s a goddamn hoax,” Trump erupted at the start of a 30-minute rant that finished with him saying, “I don’t really want to testify.”

The dramatic and previously untold scene is recounted in “Fear,” a forthcoming book by Bob Woodward that paints a harrowing portrait of the Trump presidency, based on in-depth interviews with administration officials and other principals.

Woodward writes that his book is drawn from hundreds of hours of interviews with firsthand participants and witnesses that were conducted on “deep background,” meaning the information could be used but he would not reveal who provided it. His account is also drawn from meeting notes, personal diaries and government documents.

The book also details Trump’s impatience with the war in Afghanistan, which had become America’s longest conflict. At a July 2017 National Security Council meeting, Trump dressed down his generals and other advisers for 25 minutes, complaining that the United States was losing, according to Woodward.

“The soldiers on the ground could run things much better than you,” Trump told them. “They could do a much better job. I don’t know what the hell we’re doing.” He went on to ask, “How many more deaths? How many more lost limbs? How much longer are we going to be there?”

Who cares what this dope says. Trump is accomplishing amazing things. What has Woodward ever accomplished besides being a big mouth biased libtard.

He’s upset with the way Afghanistan war that he inherited is conducted. He shows aggravation with the generals. Ok? What’s wrong with that?

Lincoln too was aggravated with his generals.

I think Woodard got it ass-backward. It's President Trump's critics who are having a nervous breakdown.

The White House needs to LAUGH at this, call it "an amateur work of comic fiction," and have numerous officials deny they said any such things.

Unless the White House was stupid enough to let this creep in the front door at all.

THAT is my President. That quote makes me proud to have cast my ballot for him.

FOr once, you have a guy in office who is like the boss everyone has had in their life. That is, someone who is hard working, sometimes short tempered, well spoken and certainly not afraid to take a stand, and if he’s found wrong or makes a mistake, he corrects his directions.

Woodward’s book shows that we have a man in the WH, is just what the doctor has ordered to get us out of the last 25 years of apathy, incompetence, laziness, politics as usual, and mediocrity....

A hit piece in time for the mid-terms. If any of these remarks attributed to Kelly and Mattis are true, Trump will have a house cleaning.

The allegation that Trump called Sessions a "dumb Southerner" is intended to hurt the GOP's principal electoral base.

The characterization of Trump as an idiot and mentally unfit to be President is the main thrust of this 448 page book. Why anyone in the Trump administration would agree to sit down with Woodward is disturbing. And the transcript of Trump's call with Woodward is certainly not helpful to the President's image.

Someone should ask Woodward if he ever met with the Mueller team during the compilation of the book. Maybe this explains why CNN still stands behind its reporting that Trump knew about the Don Jr. meeting in Trump Tower.

Even assuming this is an accurate account (which I doubt) for Dowd to first blab this stuff to a fanatical prosecutor trying to nail Trump, and then leak it to D-Bag Woodward is an absolute betrayal and violation of legal ethics!

Maybe the Mueller team leaked it to Woodward, not Dowd.

Bob Woodward’s New Book Reveals a ‘Nervous Breakdown’ of the Democratic Party.

Garbage in, garbage out...

I never thought much of his "Watergate" work. It was far from objective.

It should be noted that another FReeper says Woodward did write a book or two on Obama.

I didn’t see the WP run months long headlines heralding his imminent downfall.

Look folks, the Woodward book will get a splash like Omarosa’s book did, and then die like Omarosa’s book on the vine. It’s called a flash in the pan. Only the Dem & Liberal lunatics will froth in the mouth over this fairy tale of Woodward.

“Maybe the Mueller team leaked it to Woodward, not Dowd.”

I don’t think so, but even if the leak came from the Mueller end, for Dowd and Sukelow to go in there and tell him things to assist him in nailing their own client... absolute Judases.

And if Woodward made up the whole story, then Dowd and Sukelow need to come out right away and deny it.

That will be the test. I wouldn't put it past the Mueller team to make up the story as just another way to put pressure on Trump and sow discord. Trump must have trust in his legal team.
