I’ve devoted much of my professional life to the study of political campaigns, not as a historian or an academic but as a reporter and an analyst. I thought I’d seen it all, from the bizarre upset that handed a professional wrestler the governorship of Minnesota to the California recall that gave us the Governator to candidates who die but stay on the ballot and win.
But there’s a new kind of campaign underway, one that most of my colleagues and I have never publicly reported on, never fully analyzed, and never fully acknowledged: the campaign to destroy the legitimacy of the American news media.
Bashing the media for political gain isn’t new, and neither is manipulating the media to support or oppose a cause. These practices are at least as old as the Gutenberg press. But antipathy toward the media right now has risen to a level I’ve never personally experienced before. The closest parallel in recent American history is the hostility to reporters in the segregated South in the 1950s and ’60s.
Then, as now, that hatred was artificially stoked by people who found that it could deliver them some combination of fame, wealth, and power.
Some of the wealthiest members of the media are not reporters from mainstream outlets. Figures such as Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, and the trio of Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham have attained wealth and power by exploiting the fears of older white people. They are thriving financially by exploiting the very same free-press umbrella they seem determined to undermine.

They are the ones that have been lying to us for years, in order to further an agenda. They are still lying to us to further an agenda. They are surprised we are not happy about that? This dawned on many of us decades ago, has nothing to do with President Trump. He just brings out the worst in them, like shining a light on roaches.
There are so few reporters or journalists now it is insane. Most that claim to be are just propaganda people promoting talking points- brainwashing. Seldom do they do any research, rarely write their own stories or check facts. One will write an article, the others will copy it. What passes for news now used to be considered tabloid journalism.
Writing skills are not needed, most articles do not even try to address the basics of writing. When I read most news articles I am left with so many unanswered questions it is not worth the effort. Headlines...oh my remind me of elementary writing assignments where we had to correct badly written sentences- except no one corrects them.
The media started the attack on Trump, and if he had not fought back they would have possibly gotten him to resign or be impeached by now. He must fight back, he has no choice. The media are like jackals and have ruined many lives before we the people decided we were fed up with them cramming the politicians they choose for us down our throat and destroying people for being conservative.
God forbid they should simply tell the truth...

The media made a conscious decision to join the fray, and joined kn with unparalleled malice and deceit. Now they can’t endure the ferocity of the game they all but created. It’s hard to sympathize.

Says the guy whose wife worked for Bernie Sanders and who never discloses that fact. The left are nothing but a collection of vapid hypocrites.
That's like the kid finally hitting the bully who has been hitting him all year, and the bully's mommy coming out to complain about the bullied kid starting a fight.
The media has been trying to give Trump a bloody nose for over three years.
