I think this is because the Media can concentrate its influence on the few Senators up for election each election cycle. Thus we get a disproportionate number of Progressive senators in the Senate.
Juan is Fox News token Black Liberal “contributor.” Even his son is a Republican. I guess the “fruit” fell far from the tree. When they tee him up, I generally hit the mute button because his commentary is so transparently liberal and sophomoric that I won’t waste my time listening.

Juan, it’s called a Constitutional Republic. And under the Constitution, the Senate is organized with 2 senators per state. Next question?

That is by design!! Why? Because we are a Republic of States and not a pure democracy. They also conveniently left out that the Senate is only one branch of the government and was designed as a counterbalance to the House.
The ignorance and/or treachery of these people is astounding.
We wrote a Constitution so that our federal government represented both the people and and sovereign states. It was a brilliant arrangement that ensured that the coastal population centers would not dominate a growing country that was quickly spreading the frontiers to the West. It would be perfect for a current country with urban centers of the 21st Century that had more inhabitants, but were controlled by a single party and a population with very narrow points of view. Without the Constitution, we would be doomed. See what has happened to the UK.
