In December of 2017, Dylan Stancoff forced his way into a home in Ft. Smith Arkansas where Krissy Tran lived with her husband. Tran struggled with the attacker, grabbed one of her husbands guns and shot Stancoff, killing him. She was pregnant at the time and the shooting was eventually ruled to be justified self-defense by prosecutors.
But Tran had a previous run-in with the law. She had a felony conviction on her record from earlier that year.
In 2017, (Tran) pleaded guilty to felony possession of marijuana with intent to deliver as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. (She had been pulled over while riding in a vehicle with friends. Each person in the vehicle received the same charges when no one claimed the items.) She got a five-year suspended sentence, and as part of that was prohibited from either possessing or using firearms.
According to Tran,
The incident occurred in June 2016, ABC Fort Smith affiliate KHBS reported. (Tran) told the station that she was in the car with other people when police found drugs inside the car, but no one claimed them so everyone in the car received the same charges.
Now, more than nine months after the shooting, Tran has been charged as a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the Stancoff shooting and authorities have petitioned the court to revoke her suspended sentence for the marijuana conviction.
Shes now facing a possible sentence of 24 years in prison.
“She had a felony conviction on her record from earlier that year.”
If she was turning her life around, now had a HUSBAND and a baby on the way, and she was in jeopardy of her life and the life of her baby, I’d give her a pass.
I mean, this works for Black Lives Matter, does it not? Shouldn’t FORGIVENESS be across the board?
You can’t have it both ways, though Libs are FAMOUS for their double standards.
P.S. If it turns out she was a Trump Voter, then...The Death Penalty.
*SMIRK*
So for defending herself, her household and her baby from an intruding criminal she’ll spend a quarter of a century in prison?
Pot?
Jeff Sessions approves.
Put me on that jury. Acquittal or mistrial. Hope the prosecutor runs into a thug.
My preference on firearms would be that children would have access as decided by their parents. People in prison, jail, probation, or parole would have no firearms, and otherwise their possession would be almost unrestricted except in a few government buildings. Why not restore the God-given human rights of felons who have served their time?
If the article is accurate, this is such a bs. Under that circumstance, she had to defend herself and her husband against home intruder
“So for defending herself, her household and her baby from an intruding criminal shell spend a quarter of a century in prison?”
It’s an upside down world 2DV! The “justice system” has devolved into a bunch of government agents who mindlessly apply the law. And the results are there for all to see. Real criminal activity is up, and we’re content to fill up our jails with this stuff. It’s just a lazy, spiteful system.
Pot.
Big Pharms has no control.
Opoids good.
Pot bad.
I am seeing a trend.
No I do not smoke pot.
Yes, if their felony conviction has nothing whatsoever to do with a firearms crime as is the case here.
Don't forget that when it was originally released, the film Reefer Madness was intended to be taken seriously—and it was by much of the People. Indeed, we're still dealing with the legacy of that hysterical propaganda even today...
So she's charged with possession for the short time it took her to pick up a gun and defend her own life?
This was in her home, it’s not as if she were carrying illegally.
This was clearly self defense. She should be praised for having the presence of mind to kill the intruder, otherwise we might be reading about a dead woman found after the intruder killed her.
judged by twelve better than carried by six
Jury NULLIFICATION is appropriate here.
If this is report is accurate, this is about as chicken s**t as it gets.
A couple of bags of herbs and she lost the right to defend herself?
Ridiculous.
Pot will be legal nationwide before Trump leaves office.
The most amazing part of the story is that she was charged with a felony for possession of marijuana.
What kind of stupid people have laws like that?
Exactly and I think that is deliberately stretching the definition of possession simply to get a conviction and mess with her. Probably underlying anti-gun sentiments in their motive to prosecute too. I call BS.
