To those who claim the RC church has some sort of monopoly on this type of deviation, is preposterous. In my lifetime I saw the beginning of outright disrespect for all traditional morality during the 1960's when the free-love movement went crazy and the hippies and drug culture was rampant. it was glamorized by Hollywood and the music industry.
So it infected all churches and organizations. When Vatican II took place it seemed like an open door for liberalism to infect the church. The homosexual infiltration of the priesthood was already a problem, and it seemed to metastasize after that. Although the hierarchy has, like all huge organizations, covered up for wrongdoing, it is true that the majority of abuse was male on male and directed toward teenage boys or young seminarians who were under the authority of a more senior cleric. Thus these were just as much crimes as the underage boys - but not so egregious as that with minor boys [or girls -which was rarer] who are even more vulnerable. The ridiculous statement by Cardinal Cupich about the more important concerns of the church are climate change & helping illegal immigrants, tells us that he is nothing more than a leftist stooge, and that Christian faith in Jesus comes second to these people. We are called to be a holy people, not 'liberal people or conservative people'. God will not be mocked and Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
